A Florida woman was rescued from a prolonged period of abuse after leaving a desperate note in the restroom of a Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop, later discovered by an employee and reported to the police. The note led to the arrest of her boyfriend, Jordan Williams, a 34-year-old professional wrestler known in the indie circuit as “Jayden Steele.” 46m5s

The Jersey Mike’s discovery 631v1

According to the Santa Rose County Sheriff’s Office, on May 27, 2025, at a Jersey Mike’s location in Navarre, Florida, employee Eleanor Coffee found a crumpled piece of paper near the restroom’s toilet paper dispenser. Mistaking it for trash, Coffee was alarmed upon reading its contents.

According to Florida news outlet WEAR, the note was a plea for help, stating: “Please help me get home! HELP! Get me before May 30th!” It included the writer’s name, address, and details about a vehicle at the residence.

The woman claimed she was being held against her will and feared for her life. Coffee immediately informed her manager and called 911.

The investigation and arrest 1p515g

Upon receiving the call, the local sheriff’s office launched an investigation. Surveillance footage from the Jersey Mike’s showed the woman entering the store with Williams under the pretense of picking up DoorDash orders. She proceeded directly to the restroom, where the note was later found.

Deputies recognized the woman from previous domestic violence reports involving Williams. They obtained a search warrant for the address provided in the note. At the residence, they found the woman, who confirmed she authored the note.

She detailed a history of abuse, including repeated assaults, threats with weapons, and being held in isolation for several months. Visible injuries, including a black eye and a possible broken arm, were noted. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Williams was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and felony and misdemeanor battery. Chief Deputy Randy Tifft emphasized the severity of the situation.

The victim’s mother informed authorities that her daughter suffers from bipolar disorder and a brain tumor, making her particularly vulnerable. She believed Williams was controlling her daughter’s movements. The victim’s ex-husband also reported that Williams had previously held her captive and threatened to kill his children and family.

Coffee’s attentiveness and quick action were pivotal in rescuing the victim. She expressed hope that such incidents do not recur and extended her sympathies to the victim and her family

A harrowing incident has left the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, community in shock, as 58-year-old Rodney Shippy is believed to have fatally shot his 10-year-old autistic son, Logan, and the family dog before taking his own life.

According to the Broken Arrow Police Department, the bodies were discovered during a welfare check prompted by concerns over the prolonged disappearance of his 20-year-old daughter, Alyssa, whose remains were also found in the home, according to Oklahoma news outlet KJRH.

Alyssa was last seen in November 2024. Over the following months, relatives, particularly those residing out of state, grew increasingly concerned due to the lack of communication. Despite their worries, no missing person report was filed until May 2025.

The investigation into the deaths of Alyssa, Logan, and Rodney is ongoing. Authorities have not yet determined the exact timeline of the tragic events or how Alyssa died.

A series of tragedies 9734b

The recent murder-suicide is just the latest in a series of devastating deaths that have plagued the Shippy family over the past few years. In August 2022, Rodney’s wife, Lisa Shippy, died by suicide in the same residence. Just months later, Lisa’s mother, Diane Carpenter, was murdered by her husband, who then took his own life during a police standoff.

Neighbors described the Shippy home as deteriorating and uninhabitable, noting Rodney’s increasing isolation following his wife’s death. Financial hardships may have compounded his distress. Public records indicate the home faced foreclosure due to over $135,000 in unpaid mortgage principal.

The Broken Arrow Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding these deaths. As the community mourns, this incident underscores the critical need for mental health and intervention in times of crisis.

<![CDATA[

A young Long Island woman’s unsettling encounter on a nearly empty train has been linked to Rex Heuermann, the accused Gilgo Beach serial killer. The incident, captured on video just days before Heuermann’s arrest, adds a new layer to the chilling narrative surrounding the suspect.

As first reported by the New York Post, on July 1, 2023, now 21-year-old Kaylin Morales boarded a Long Island Rail Road train, anticipating a routine journey. However, her commute took a distressing turn when a middle-aged man chose to sit directly beside her despite the abundant vacant seats elsewhere on the train.

“Oh, you don’t have to move your pretty legs. I won’t bother you’” 2n61s

The man, later identified as Heuermann, made unsolicited and inappropriate remarks, causing Morales to feel increasingly uneasy, she said. Sensing potential danger, she discreetly recorded videos and photos of the man, capturing his behavior as he drank beer and attempted to engage her in conversation, which she tried to avoid by wearing headphones.

According to Morales, Heuermann told her, “Oh, you don’t have to move your pretty legs. I won’t bother you.” She added, “I just thought he was this big, fat, ugly white man…I obviously didn’t know who he was at the time,” and she feared for her safety, “creeped out” by the whole situation. She said she considered moving, but she felt “trapped” by Heuermann’s body.

Morales later shared the footage on TikTok, expressing her discomfort and the fear she felt during the encounter. After Heuermann’s arrest, she submitted her recordings to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and was interviewed by detectives, confirming the identity of the man in her videos as Heuermann. She only just recently felt safe releasing the footage to the public.

The Gilgo Beach murders and Heuermann’s arest 272973

Heuermann, a 60-year-old architect from Massapequa Park, Long Island, was arrested on July 13, 2023, in connection with the infamous Gilgo Beach serial killings. He was initially charged with the murders of three women—Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello—whose bodies were discovered along Ocean Parkway between 2010 and 2011. In January 2024, he was also charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

Investigators linked Heuermann to the crimes through a combination of DNA evidence, cellphone data, and witness s. A significant breakthrough came when DNA from a discarded pizza crust matched hair found on one of the victims.

Expanding investigations and additional charges 50203y

The case against Heuermann has continued to evolve. In June 2024, he was charged with the murders of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla, extending the timeline of his alleged crimes back to 1993. In December 2024, he was indicted for the 2000 murder of Valerie Mack. These developments suggest a broader scope of criminal activity than initially believed.

Authorities have also expanded their search for additional victims, combing through areas like the Otis Pike Preserve in Manorville. While Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to all charges, the ongoing investigations continue to uncover potential links to other unsolved cases.

Questions remain about Kemp's mental health when she vanished. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Jessica Paige Kemp’s mysterious disappearance has taken a new turn after the Greene County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Kemp placed a 911 call before she vanished, reporting someone or “something” under her vehicle at a remote camping site near Lake Ashbaugh.

The information, shared in a May 2025 social media post from the sheriff’s office, has ignited widespread scrutiny over how Arkansas authorities have managed the case.

What happened on May 5, 2025? h723v

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Kemp called 911 on May 5 while camping at a primitive site within the Wildlife Management Area in Northwest Greene County. When deputies arrived, they found no one under or inside her vehicle.

A crisis-intervention-trained deputy spoke with Kemp and determined she did not meet the legal threshold for a mental health hold under Arkansas law. She did, however, it she stopped taking prescription medication for her mental health. She was not taken into custody and agreed to follow up with her doctor. The deputy’s encounter with Kemp marked the last confirmed sighting of her.

Delayed missing persons report raises eyebrows 2p2r1f

Kemp was not reported missing by her family until May 14, nine days after her with police. The report was filed with the Jonesboro Police Department, which eventually notified Greene County deputies, prompting a formal investigation at the campsite. According to the department’s post, over 200 man-hours have been invested in searching for Kemp.

Investigators noted that Kemp had a known history of drug addiction and often camped alone in remote locations without regular with her family. No signs of foul play were found at the site. “It is normal for Kemp to camp in remote locations just as she was at Lake Ashbaugh,” the Greene County Sheriff’s Office stated.

Public concern and comparisons to past cases 95r40

Despite assurances from local authorities, Kemp’s case has drawn significant attention and skepticism, particularly due to parallels with past Arkansas disappearances, such as that of Ebby Steppach. Steppach went missing in 2015 after expressing fear for her safety. Her body was found in a park storm drain three years later, after repeated reports to police had gone largely uninvestigated.

Similarly, Kemp’s 911 call suggesting someone may have been stalking her and the decision not to detain her under mental health protocols have fueled criticism. Advocates argue the system continues to fail vulnerable women, especially those with mental health or substance use issues.

Social media has been ablaze with questions about the timeline of Kemp’s disappearance, especially the nine-day delay between her last police and the missing persons report. Many argue that the sheriff’s office’s emphasis on Kemp’s addiction history and lifestyle detracts from the urgency her case demands.

Where the case stands 695w5o

As of June 2, 2025, Kemp remains missing. Law enforcement officials continue to review data dumps from her devices and surrounding cell towers in the hopes of uncovering her whereabouts. No new leads have been shared publicly. Anyone with information is urged to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office or the Jonesboro Police Department.

In a remarkable turn of events, 15-year-old Alisa Petrov from South Jordan, Utah, who had been missing for nearly six weeks, turned herself in in Colorado Springs, Colorado, more than 500 miles from her home. Her disappearance had sparked a multi-state investigation and led to the arrest of three men on charges related to child exploitation.

Petrov’s family reported her missing on April 21, 2025, two days after sending a message to a 41-year-old man she had been communicating with online. In the message, she stated, “I’M RUNNING AWAY. Please don’t me.” She never arrived at school the day she vanished.

Surveillance footage later showed her leaving a train platform in Provo, and authorities believed she might be in Las Vegas.

Petrov reappeared safe and sound 1dk5t

On June 1, 2025, Petrov walked into the Colorado Springs Police Department in good health. According to Utah news outlet KUTV, whether she was held against her will, how she was transported, and why she traveled so far have not yet been determined or disclosed.

Three men arrested in connection to the case 3v4z1x

After Petrov disappeared, investigators discovered that the teen had engaged in explicit conversations with three adult men she met online. These interactions included discussions about meeting in person and sexual activities.

Utah authorities arrested the first man, identified as Samuel Teancum Mitchell, 41, from Herriman, Utah, on charges of sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor. Authorities discovered their conversations on Petrov’s iPad, which she left behind.

Around that same time, police charged William Taylor Glines, 37, from Texas, with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and criminal solicitation.

Meanwhile, Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, from Florida, turned himself in and faced charges including aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticing a minor, and criminal solicitation.

Questions remain ee1n

While Petrov has been found safe, many questions remain unanswered. The involvement of the three men and the nature of their interactions with Petrov are central to the ongoing investigation.

Petrov’s family had previously offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. The community’s and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies were instrumental in locating her.

The Petrov case underscores the risks associated with online interactions between minors and adults. As investigations continue, authorities urge parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activities and to educate them about the risks associated with communicating with strangers on the internet.

The disappearance of 32-year-old Jessica Paige Kemp during a solo camping trip in Arkansas has left her family and the community searching for answers.

Kemp, a resident of Paragould, Arkansas, was last seen on May 5, 2025, at a primitive campsite near Lake Ashbaugh in the Dave Donaldson Wildlife Management Area. Her vehicle, cell phone, and personal belongings were recovered at the campsite, but Kemp was nowhere to be found.

“There are still many unanswered questions” 1gv12

Kemp’s decision to embark on a solo camping trip was met with concern from her family, given the potential risks. When she failed to return or make , her family reported her missing. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) initiated a search, and a reward was offered for information leading to her whereabouts.

Throughout the ordeal, Kemp’s family, who’ve launched a GoFundMe to raise funds, has remained hopeful and actively sought assistance from the public and authorities. Her mother’s updates on social media kept the community informed and engaged in the search efforts.

“There are still many unanswered questions,” Kemp’s family wrote in part on the GoFundMe page. “We have exhausted most of our resources trying to find her. There have been aerial drone searches, boat searches, dog searches, and extensive foot and land searches.”

Kemp’s family added, “Outside assistance has been limited. We have talked to everyone in the area as well as people in the community.”

Viral theories: “Something weird is going on here” 1s6x14

The Kemp mystery has captured online attention, spawning unconfirmed conspiracy theories and reports. One unverified source posted, “Something happened on May 5th that caused Jessica to make a distress call to 911. An officer responded to the call. His body cam was not on. He sent for an EMT, but then cancelled it before the ambulance arrived.”

The post added, “The police report states he gave her 48 hours to vacate the premises because it is a primitive campsite. They went back two days later to ‘reevaluate’ the situation after leaving her there. That is when they discovered her car, belongings, and even her shoes were all still at the campsite.”

Another post from the same source continued, “According to her family, a sheriff’s deputy from the GCSO was the last person to have seen Paige before she went missing after she placed a distress call to 911. There is no body cam footage. Texas Equusearch and other organizations cannot help without clearance from the GSCO and they refuse to allow it. Something weird is going on here guys.”

Jessica’s case highlights the complexities and challenges involved in missing person investigations, especially when individuals venture into remote areas alone. Arkansas has seen numerous missing person cases over the years, with varying outcomes. Anyone with information is urged to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 239-6343.

Their parents say they just wandered off. ]]>
<![CDATA[

A significant development has emerged in the case of missing Canadian siblings Lilly and Jack Sullivan, altering the previously understood timeline of their disappearance.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has confirmed that the children were seen in public with family on the afternoon of May 1, 2025, just one day before they were reported missing.

A shifting timeline 721t1p

Initially, it was believed that six-year-old Lilly and four-year-old Jack vanished from their home in Lansdowne Station, Nova Scotia, on the morning of May 2. Their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, reported them missing around 10 a.m., stating that the children had likely wandered off while she and their stepfather, Daniel Martell, were asleep.

However, the recent confirmation that the siblings were seen with relatives on May 1 challenges this narrative. This new information narrows the window of their disappearance and raises questions about the events leading up to May 2.

School absences reassessed 1l4t6f

Further complicating the timeline, reports indicate that Lilly and Jack had been absent from school for several days before their disappearance. They last attended Salt Springs Elementary on April 29. According to Martell, the children were kept home due to illness on April 30 and May 1.

This extended absence from school, combined with the new sighting on May 1, suggests that the children were not missing as early as previously thought, prompting investigators to reassess the sequence of events.

A lie detector and a sudden departure 52253t

The case has garnered widespread attention, with social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook amplifying public interest. Videos discussing the latest updates have gone viral, reflecting the community’s concern and the broader public’s engagement with the case.

This heightened visibility has led to increased scrutiny of the investigation and the family’s statements, with online discussions dissecting the evolving narrative.

In the wake of the children’s disappearance, stepfather Daniel Martell has faced public scrutiny. To address suspicions, Martell voluntarily underwent a polygraph test. The results have not been publicly disclosed, but Martell continues to cooperate with the authorities.

Following the disappearance, Malehya Brooks-Murray reportedly left the family home to stay with relatives in another part of Nova Scotia. Martell stated that she blocked him on social media after her departure.

An ongoing investigation 4o3vc

The RCMP has received over 355 tips and conducted more than 50 interviews in connection with the case. Investigators are now seeking additional video footage from the area, specifically along Gairloch Road between April 28 and May 2, to piece together the children’s movements.

Despite extensive ground and air searches, including the use of drones and canine units, no significant leads have emerged. The search efforts were scaled back on May 7 but remain active, with authorities committed to exploring all possibilities.

Kohberger's trial is scheduled to begin in August. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, renowned for his role in O.J. Simpson’s defense team, recently drew parallels between the trial of Bryan Kohberger and the infamous 1995 Simpson case.

In a May 2025 appearance on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Dershowitz described the Kohberger case as “so reminiscent” of Simpson’s, highlighting similarities in defense strategies and the handling of DNA evidence.

The role of DNA in each case 1k6n4g

Dershowitz, who served as an appellate adviser on Simpson’s defense team, sees notable parallels between the two cases. In both, DNA evidence plays a pivotal role. At Kohberger’s trial, the defense team is expected to challenge the integrity of this evidence. Dershowitz emphasized that, as in the Simpson trial, the defense might argue that the DNA evidence was mishandled or contaminated. This could thereby create reasonable doubt, he said.

In the Simpson case, the defense successfully argued that DNA evidence was compromised, leading to Simpson’s acquittal. Dershowitz suggests that Kohberger’s defense might adopt a similar approach to undermine the prosecution’s case.

Furthermore, both the Simpson and Kohberger cases have been subject to intense media scrutiny. This can influence public perception and potentially impact the trial’s outcome. Dershowitz notes that media coverage can shape narratives and affect jury selection, making it imperative for defense teams to manage public relations carefully.

In high-profile cases, the court of public opinion can be as influential as the courtroom itself. Defense teams must navigate media coverage strategically to protect their client’s right to a fair trial.

The Kohberger Idaho 4 case: a brief overview 3a1t2r

Kohberger, a former criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University, stands accused of the November 2022 stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students: Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen. Arrested in December 2022, Kohberger faces a trial that has garnered national attention due to the brutal nature of the crimes and the circumstantial evidence presented by prosecutors.

Kohberger and the O.J. Simpson trial 2p34h

Dershowitz advocates for a defense strategy that begins with the presumption of guilt. He believes that by assuming their client’s guilt, defense attorneys can more effectively identify weaknesses in the prosecution’s case and develop strategies to counter them. This approach, he argues, allows for a more thorough examination of the evidence and the development of a robust defense.

In the context of the Kohberger case, this strategy would involve a meticulous review of the prosecution’s evidence, including DNA findings, cell phone records, and surveillance footage. By identifying potential flaws or inconsistencies, the defense can craft arguments that cast doubt on Kohberger’s guilt.

It seems like you didn't have to be drunk to get a DUI.]]>
<![CDATA[

The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii (ACLU) has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Honolulu Police Department (HPD). The lawsuit accuses HPD of repeatedly arresting sober drivers without legal justification, which is a crime. According to the lawsuit, HPD officers are making these arrests without proper evidence, motivated by a desire to increase DUI arrest numbers in order to secure funding and meet what appear to be quotas.

The lawsuit claims that HPD supervisors encourage this behavior by offering incentives to officers. Specifically, night shift officers are allegedly allowed to go home early while still getting paid for their full shift if they make a DUI arrest. The ACLU argues that this reward system pushes officers to skip proper investigations and arrest people even when there is no clear proof they were impaired.

The ACLU states that over the past few years, “scores” of drivers have been arrested despite showing no signs of being drunk, ing field sobriety tests, and having a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.000. Between 2022 and 2024, HPD arrested 127 people with a 0.000 BAC for driving under the influence. Out of these, only 15 were given traffic tickets, and just three were charged with driving under the influence of drugs. The rest were arrested and left with a DUI record, even though they were completely sober.

Hawaii police sued for false charges 1e2t3g

The lawsuit describes cases where drivers were pulled over for minor traffic violations or at sobriety checkpoints without any indication of impaired driving. As an example, the ACLU points to three arrests made on August 31, 2024, all at the same location within 20 minutes. Breath tests showed each driver had a 0.000 BAC. The ACLU says this proves that arrests are being made to meet quotas rather than because of actual evidence.

Jeremy O’Steen, attorney working with ACLU Hawaii said, “each of our clients blew a 0.000. None of them were intoxicated. Yet they endured lasting damage to their records, their reputation, traumatic arrests, and unlawful detention. What we are demanding today is simple: Stop arresting innocent people. Stop manipulating the system.”

Three plaintiffs are named in the lawsuit, representing hundreds of others in similar situations. One of them, Tanner Pangan, was a high school senior who was arrested. He was stopped after his truck slid on a wet road, but tests confirmed he had no alcohol or drugs in his system. Despite this, he was arrested for DUI.

While we’ve seen officers respond to customers at Hertz and show up unannounced at a home, it’s hard to the last time this kind of thing happened. It’s hard to imagine a way the police can excuse this action.

The ACLU argues that HPD’s actions are unconstitutional and illegal, violating the rights of many innocent people. The lawsuit does not ask for money as compensation. Instead, it asks the court to officially declare that HPD’s practices are unconstitutional and illegal and to stop the arrests of innocent drivers.

In response to the lawsuit, HPD said it takes the accusations seriously and has started a full review of all impaired driving arrests since 2021. HPD also stated it would investigate the cases of the three named plaintiffs internally, promising to maintain public trust and take action if any wrongdoing is found. The review will examine every DUI arrest made during that time, regardless of BAC results.

First of all, eww. Second of all, what?!]]>
<![CDATA[

In a political landscape often rife with intrigue, the recent departure of Stephen Miller‘s wife, Katie Miller, from the White House to work full-time for Elon Musk has ignited a flurry of speculation.

Social media platforms are abuzz with unverified rumors suggesting a complex relationship (to say the least) between Musk, Katie, and her husband, Stephen, a senior advisor in the Trump istration. But what are the facts behind these claims?

Katie’s move has raised eyebrows 343u1q

During her tenure at Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Katie served as a key liaison between Musk and the White House, often delivering sensitive communications, according to CNN. Following Musk’s departure from his government role, Miller chose to continue working with him in the private sector, focusing on communications for Musk’s ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX.

Her decision has been met with mixed reactions. Some White House insiders reportedly welcomed her departure, viewing it as a relief amid internal tensions.

“DOGE is like Buddhism” 6x5m4g

The term “throuple” began trending on social media following Miller’s career move, with s speculating about a possible romantic entanglement. These rumors appear to stem from the close professional relationships among the trio during their time at DOGE.

Adding fuel to the fire, Katie posted a quote from Musk on social media, stating, “DOGE is like Buddhism,” which some interpreted as a sign of something deeper. However, there is no concrete evidence to claims of a romantic relationship, and such assertions remain speculative.

Stephen Miller’s response 705a16

Stephen has publicly defended the Trump istration against Musk’s criticisms, particularly concerning a recent spending bill that Musk claimed undermined DOGE’s mission. When questioned about Musk’s alleged drug use amid his wife’s new employment, Miller deflected, emphasizing concerns about drug trafficking at the southern border instead.

Despite the swirling rumors, there is no official statement from Stephen addressing the personal speculations involving his wife and Musk.

While the internet thrives on sensational stories, it’s crucial to distinguish between verified information and unfounded rumors. Katie’s professional transition to work with Musk is documented and substantiated by multiple sources. The “throuple” narrative, however, lacks credible evidence and appears to be a product of online conjecture.

As with many high-profile figures, the intersection of personal and professional lives often becomes a focal point for public speculation. Yet, without concrete proof, such narratives remain in the realm of rumor.

Sherri Papini, the California woman infamous for faking her kidnapping in 2016, is once again making headlines—this time for filing a restraining order against Katherine Parrick, a woman who claims her ex-partner left her and their daughter for Papini.

Parrick’s claims: abandonment and intimidation 4s2j5f

Parrick has publicly alleged that her ex-partner abandoned her and their daughter to be with Papini. In a GoFundMe campaign, Parrick detailed the emotional and financial hardships she faced following the separation.

Parrick took to Reddit to share her experiences, stating, “I have had NO interaction with Sherri Papini aside from what I wrote here and in the GoFundMe.” She recounted an incident where, while staying at a friend’s house in Shingletown, California, near Redding, her ex sent a text claiming their daughter should be with him and that he “knew where we were staying.”

Shortly after, Parrick says she observed Papini driving slowly by the house, peering at the vehicles. Upon making eye with Parrick, Papini reportedly had an “oh s—!” expression and sped away.

A subsequent Reddit comment suggested Parrick, not Papini, has harassed Papini and Parrick’s ex. Stating in part, what Parrick is posting “isn’t actual fact. Feelings are not facts in a court of law!”

Parrick emphasized, “I have had NO interaction with her aside from what I’ve written AND from seeing her drive by looking for me while my daughter and I were staying at a friend’s house in Shingletown. I believe I started pointing at the car when I realized it was her (doing Phony’s ‘dirty work’).”

Parrick also hinted at more severe allegations, mentioning, “I didn’t even write about THE DIRECT THREATS SHE AND PHONY,” presumably a nickname for Parrick’s ex, “MADE TO MY LIFE during the third week of their ‘dating.’ But maybe I should…”

Papini’s notoriety began with her fabricated kidnapping in 2016, where she claimed to have been abducted by two Hispanic women. In reality, she had been staying with an ex-boyfriend during her 22-day disappearance. In 2022, Papini pleaded guilty to mail fraud and making false statements to federal agents, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence, of which she served approximately 11

Following her release, Papini has been involved in a contentious custody battle with her ex-husband, Keith Papini, over their two children. Keith, who was granted full custody after Sherri’s arrest, has expressed concerns about the potential harm to their children from Sherri’s actions and the media attention surrounding them.

In addition to her legal battles, Papini has been ordered to pay over $300,000 in restitution for the costs incurred during the investigation of her fake kidnapping. As of March 2024, federal prosecutors have filed a writ of garnishment against her, seeking to collect the unpaid restitution.

The Parrick restraining order a433g

The restraining order filed by Papini against Parrick has raised eyebrows, especially given Parrick’s claims of minimal interaction with Papini. Parrick asserts that the only direct encounter she had with Papini was the drive-by incident in Shingletown. She believes the restraining order is an attempt to intimidate and silence her.

The heart of a mother isn't always warm.]]>
<![CDATA[

A South African mother, Racquel “Kelly” Smith, has been sentenced to life in prison for the terrible crime of trafficking her six-year-old daughter, Joshlin Smith. The sentence also affected two accomplices, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, who received the same life sentences for their part in the crime. The conviction of the three followed a shocking case that horrified the country and brought attention to the disturbing problem of child trafficking in South Africa.

Warning: Details of child trafficking below.

The case started in February 2024 when Joshlin went missing from her home in Saldanha Bay. Investigations soon uncovered a cruel plan organized by her own mother. Smith, along with Appollis and van Rhyn, supposedly planned to sell Joshlin to a traditional healer, known as a “sangoma,” who reportedly wanted the child’s eyes and skin for use in rituals.

This horrifying motive was ed by testimony from a neighbor, Lourentia Lombaard, who recalled Smith’s confession and later attempted to pay her to stay quiet. Lombaard said that Smith itted to selling Joshlin and described the deal as “something silly.” More evidence came from Joshlin’s teacher, Edna Maart, who testified that Smith had claimed Joshlin was on a ship going to West Africa. A pastor also came forward, saying that Smith had previously talked about selling her children for around $1,100 each.

The trial lasted several weeks but finally ended with guilty verdicts. Smith, Appollis, and van Rhyn all denied any involvement in Joshlin’s disappearance during the trial, but the strong evidence against them was too much to overcome. Judge Nathan Erasmus, while announcing the sentence, expressed his deep disgust at the defendants’ lack of remorse.

We’ve seen some bad situations between children and their parents. The Turpin parents never sold their children, but they were torturing them. Another example would be the Michigan grandmother who killed her two children. Unfortunately, it seems that with Joshlin still missing, this story also has a sad ending.

Judge Erasmus said, “There is nothing that I can find that is redeeming and deserving of a lesser sentence than the harshest I can impose.” The courtroom burst into cheers when the life sentences were announced. Joshlin’s grandmother, who was in court wearing a shirt with Joshlin’s picture, was surely among those relieved by the verdict.

The judge directly addressed the defendants’ drug use, stating that it did not justify their awful crime. The case revealed the tragic details of Joshlin’s disappearance, including the ongoing search for the missing child. Authorities had earlier arrested and questioned a woman suspected of being the intended traditional healer, but she was released due to a lack of evidence.
