<![CDATA[

Say hello to our latest Lex Luthor! James Gunn has found his villain for Superman: Legacy and David Corenswet has found his on-screen nemesis in the form of Nicholas Hoult. 4016q

A former superhero himself, thanks to his role as Beast in the X-Men franchise, Hoult becomes the fifth actor to play Metropolis’ most hated man in a live-action movie, as well as ing the lengthy list of names who have brought the iconic comic book foe to life across the many mediums over the decades. So, no pressure, Nicholas, but you have big shoes to fill for sure. At least we know he looks good with his head shaved, thanks to Mad Max: Fury Road.

Hoult is a talented actor, and Gunn’s casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was always unmatched, so it would be unwise to bet against him becoming one of the finest Luthors we’ve ever seen. Nevertheless, a few of the following ten performances may prove difficult to beat. Others… not so much.

10. Kevin Spacey 136r4y

Kevin Spacey’s Lex from Superman Returns rounds out this list because… Well, he’s Kevin Spacey. In addition, the now-disgraced actor wasted a golden opportunity to reinvent the role for the 21st century and simply does his best impression of Gene Hackman, thereby delivering a hackneyed and dated depiction of a movie supervillain.

9. Lyle Talbot 16693v

Prolific 1940s character actor Lyle Talbot has the honor of being the first person to bring Lex Luthor to life, appearing opposite original Superman actor Kirk Alyn in 1950 movie serial Atom Man vs. Superman. Talbot’s interpretation is a perfect snapshot of who Lex was at the beginning of his storied history, very much a classic pulp-y mad scientist.

8. Titus Welliver 2u2n21

As part of Titans four-season plan to throw in everything but the kitchen sink, Titus Welliver turned up for a single episode of the show’s final season — that’s all DC let them use the character for, FYI. With only a few minutes of screentime under his belt, then, the Bosch star wasn’t able to fully get under Lex’s skin, but he provided a solid rendition of the modern-day Lex.

7. Michael Cudlitz 414j6z

And, for some reason, it’s an unwritten rule that the modern-day Lex has to have a beard. See also Michael Cudlitz’s incarnation from Superman and Lois season 3. The brilliance of the acclaimed CW show is that it brings a new dimension to very familiar characters, and that’s on full display with its portrayal of Lex. Uniquely, Cudlitz plays him as a jumped-up thug, Kal-El’s very own version of the Kingpin.

6. Jesse Eisenberg r6f1v

Look, I’m not happy Jesse Eisenberg ranks this high, you’re not happy about it, let’s move on. By nature of being the most prominent cinematic Lex of the century so far, Eisenberg has to land the sixth spot. And, to be fair, at least he served up a version of the character that we hadn’t seen before — even if that’s because he seems to think he’s playing the Riddler.

5. Jon Cryer 402t3f

During the podcast, Oliver and James talked at length about their respective careers (together and apart), navigating the entertainment industry, and of course… Harry Potter. When dissecting “The Boy Who Lived”, James shared a brief anecdote about his time filming Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Specifically, a surprising mentor in the form of legendary British actor Michael Gambon — the man responsible bringing Dumbledore to life after the untimely ing of Richard Harris.

“We were filming the scene when Dumbledore is at the clocktower, without giving to much away, it’s a very important part of the story of the series. In-between takes Michael (Gambon) was outside having a cigarette, and I was just with him looking after him as it were. Making sure he didn’t run off.

Imagine that, aside from being a part of the main cast, your job also entailed keeping track of Dumbledore. No pressure, right James?

“And he said to me, ‘So what are you doing at the weeks end">

“You’d think he’s in his full right to be preparing for the scene he’s about to shoot, but he was all about giving me the time to do that, and it’s one of those where I’ve never forgot that. I always think there’s a reason why good actors work so many times.”

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make the most difference, and in the case of this wholesome interaction, that couldn’t be closer to the truth.

<![CDATA[

You might not know the name Bonnie Wright, but there’s a pretty good chance you know her character Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. Turns out Wright actually knew very little about the Harry Potter world before she decided to audition for one of the most popular franchises of all time.

Wright appeared on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast to tell the surprising news about her audition for the role. It was actually her brother, she said, who told her she looks just like Ginny.

“He was really specific. People had heard they were making them into movies and he was like ‘you need to go for the role Ginny Weasley.’ I was like ‘okay, don’t even know who that is or like what this book is but it sounds fun.'”

She didn’t go in completely blind, though. She read the first book before her first audition at least.

“Which Ginny isn’t really in at all,” she said. “So I didn’t really get a sense of her. She obviously comes through more in the second book.”

The reason she went was mostly because she “looked up to her brother massively” as opposed to being a fan of the series. “I’m grateful he had that great casting ability.”

It is pretty remarkable that her brother just mentioned, “Hey, go audition,” and she did and ended up getting the role, which wasn’t an open casting, by the way.

“[My parents] came home from work and we were like ‘we want to find out how to get an audition in Harry Potter.'” Her parents couldn’t really help as they didn’t know anyone who worked in entertainment.

Her mother was determined to help anyway. She called the publishers of the book in the U.K. and “they gave her the casting director’s number.” She called and the director said, “Okay, sure, if you want to send in some pictures of Bonnie, that would be great.”

They also asked her to write a few sentences about why she wanted the role. She was nine at the time and doesn’t really what she wrote, but she said it wasn’t really that important.

It actually only took two auditions for her to snag the role. Also, Ginny didn’t have any lines in the first movie, but director Christopher Columbus gave her one line the day of shooting. That line? Saying “Good Luck” to Harry.

In the audition, she actually read Hermione’s lines “because they didn’t have any other scenes for me to read.”

She nailed it though, and things turned out just fine for her.

Actress Bonnie Wright talks to Michael Rosenbaum about her time in the spotlight. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Is there anyone nicer than Bonnie Wright? Hang on, I know this one — the answer is NO, end of discussion. The actress, filmmaker, and environmental activist has remained one of the entertainment industry’s most humble denizens to date, and that doesn’t look like it’s changing anytime soon.

In a recent interview on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum — a podcast dedicated to unpacking what makes certain celebrities tick — Wright dished about her time working on the Harry Potter franchise and how some of her on-screen relationships turned into genuine off-screen friendships.

Hosted by Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville, Impastor, Guardians of the Galaxy) — Inside of You provides insight into the nuts and bolts of Hollywood while humanizing the people that make it all happen in the first place. If you haven’t been acquainted, there’s no time like the present.

During their chat, Rosenbaum asked Wright about how she landed the role of Ginny Weasley and how inexperienced that young cast truly was in the early days shooting.

“I think the hardest thing for me was when I had my scene (during Sorcerer’s Stone), they had already been sort of halfway through the shoot. So when I stepped on, everything had been a bit figured out. I was definitely very nervous, and felt like I was totally in the deep end of the pool. Like, ‘What am I doing">

“I haven’t seen her in a long time, but we still are in . She really made me feel safe, and like I was meant to be there. So, I’m very grateful for that.”

Well, it’s great that they get to stay in touch. Even if it’s via phone, email, or owl. (How am I supposed to know how the pair keep in touch?) Although, I bet the fandom would die if Wright and Walters got back together sometime soon. Here’s hoping.

And yet he's still not promising him a return in the DCU. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Despite being the creative head of DC Studios these days, James Gunn is much more forthcoming with his opinions on superhero movies than his counterpart over at Marvel, Kevin Feige. For instance, he’s happy to discuss his favorite comic book films of all time (which, perhaps tellingly, don’t include recent MCU outings among their number) and, as it turns out, even give his hot takes on his own franchise. Including shamelessly naming one of his closest friends as the best incarnation of an iconic DC villain.

For those looking to keep on top of every scrap of new info Gunn hands out about his plans for the DCU, the filmmaker and producer helpfully took to Twitter to share his appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast — a 95-minute treasure trove in which Gunn discusses everything from why he initially turned down the DC head honcho gig to teasing a shocking absence in Superman: Legacy.

lex luthor smallville
via The CW

Of course, the reason he decided to do the podcast is likely because Rosenbaum is a close friend of his, having cast him as Martinex in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. The actor is most famous to superhero fans, though, for his unbeatable turn as Lex Luthor in Smallville. And that’s an opinion Gunn himself shares, and was not afraid to make clear to the masses. As Gunn itted while promoting the podcast: “yes I think he was the best Lex Luthor.”

Gunn’s comment referred to an open ission he made in conversation with Rosenbaum, stressing “You were the best Lex!” While this is a widely held opinion by the fandom, it’s maybe surprising to hear it come from a Superman: The Movie fanboy like Gunn, who you might expect to prefer Gene Hackman. Although, on the other hand, maybe we shouldn’t be shocked, given how Gunn always puts his friends first. Which either demonstrates irable loyalty or blinkered favoristism, depending on your point of view.

<![CDATA[

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 officially behind us, James Gunn is setting his sights on new projects.

The popular director has spent the last few weeks glued to Twitter, where he’s carefully addressed fan questions, examined key details contained within his final MCU flick, and slowly pivoted toward his next project. Next on the docket is his major shift over to the DCU, where he’s set to steer the franchise in new, and hopefully far more successful, directions.

Gunn is well-known for leaning on similar actors over multiple roles, a tendency he’s fully willing to claim. He enjoys working with the cast and crew he’s come to know and trust over the years, and fans expect he’ll maintain this trend even after making the full move over to DC. With this in mind, and recent news about a Guardians actor in talks for the DCU’s Lex Luthor at the forefront of their minds, fans know exactly which background Guardians star they’d like to see in the role.

There are a few dozen options, spread across three Guardians movies and one Christmas Special, but one would easily take the cake. While we can’t deny the appeal of a quirky Sean Gunn Luthor — or a major switch-up with someone like Benicio del Toro — one recent Guardians addition easily takes the cake.

After making his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the scintillant Martinex returned for a minor role in Vol. 3. His glittery skin might raise some eyebrows, but beneath that lustrous exterior might just be the perfect man for the job. After all, Michael Rosenbaum has plenty of experience to back him up.

Non-Smallville fans might be knitting their eyebrows together as they examine Rosenbaum’s average, but attractive, appeal, but longtime fans of the 10-season series instantly pegged the actor as the perfect — and potentially hilarious — fit for the part. After starring alongside Tom Welling as the show’s own Lex Luthor, it would be kismet for the star to turn full circle and once again step into the menacing DC villain’s shoes. It would also be pretty hilarious, as one fan pointed out on Twitter.

Noting that Rosenbaum would easily be “the funniest outcome,” Twitter @Smv_of_heroes ignited a spectacular flurry of fan casting in the wake of their tweet. While options like Seth Rogen for Luthor — alongside Jonah Hill’s Superman, of course — would certainly get fan attention, we just don’t know if Vin Diesel has the chops (though he’s got the bald pate down pat).

Rosenbaum is an easy favorite for the part, among fans at least, and his return to the role would feel cyclical and fitting. He exited the role of Luthor after seven seasons of Smallville but returned to give Clark some grief for the show’s final arc. That was more than a decade ago, and fans would be far from disappointed to see the actor bring everything he’s learned over 10 years of additional experience to reimagine the part.

Quite a few people continue to see Rosenbaum as “peak Lex Luthor,” after all, so why not? That alone should land him on Gunn’s shortlist.

If only he could have called in a favor...]]>
<![CDATA[

Having already confirmed what everyone knew by itting there’s going to be no shortage of Marvel Cinematic Universe collaborators ing him in making the jump over to the DCU, we can expect the next decade of film and television projects to be loaded up with the James Gunn‘s nearest and dearest.

In a cruel twist of fate, though, an actor who’s been a close friend of Gunn’s for well over a decade ended up being rejected for a DC role in a project that was ditched by Warner Bros. and sold off to a rival company. Michael Rosenbaum was recently – and very briefly – seen returning as Martinex in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but not even his connections to the boss could land him the title role in animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, as he revealed on his Inside of You podcast.

“We had another audition, ? The Batman series… It was J.J. Abrams and Bruce Timm who created Justice League: Unlimited. It got just axed, but I going for a callback with him and everybody. And you know, I think my Batman was really good. I think they were really happy with Batman, but the Bruce Wayne, I don’t think they were happy with. I could tell.”

As well as playing Lex Luthor for seven seasons of Smallville, Rosenbaum is also a regular contributor to the DC Animated Universe, but not even those comic book credentials could secure him the part of the Dark Knight in the show that was ultimately shipped off to Prime Video instead.

That being said, you’d be foolish to bet against him popping up in live-action given his strong ties to the current co-CEO.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Even if you somehow miss his director’s credit, it’s often easy to identify a James Gunn movie — an ensemble cast populated by quirky anti-heroes, the mix of crude humor and genuine moments of pathos, the unending needledrops on the soundtrack… the list goes on. Maybe the most obvious way of marking out a Gunn film, though, is that the man tends to recruit the same people into each and every one of his projects. That’s earned him some ire on social media, but Gunn doesn’t seem in a rush to change the habit of a career.

Sure enough, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 continues the tradition and contains a number of actors you might call of the James Gunn Acting Troupe as they’ve appeared in multiple projects from the creator. Chukwudi Iwuji, who plays the High Evolutionary, is obviously one of them but his inclusion in the threequel is hardly a secret. The following 10 stars, however, turn up in more surprising ing roles that should have James Gunn fans suffering from déjà vu.

Linda Cardellini 3un16

As Gunn revealed prior to the film’s release, the voice of Rocket’s friend Lylla is provided by his good friend Linda Cardellini. The Dead to Me actress and the Guardians filmmaker first worked together on the beloved Scooby-Doo live-action films of the early 2000s, which Gunn wrote and Cardellini starred in as Velma Dinkley. Lylla is Cardellini’s second MCU role after Laura Barton, Hawkeye’s wife.

Sylvester Stallone 563q64

It was no secret that Sylvester Stallone would be back in Vol. 3 after a Vol. 2 post-credits scene established that we’d be seeing more of him next time around. Sure enough, the Rocky legend is back as Stakar Ogord aka Starhawk, the leader of the Ravager captains. This marks Stallone’s third collaboration with Gunn, seeing as he recently hopped over to DC to play King Shark in The Suicide Squad.

Michael Rosenbaum 2n2is

Wherever Stallone’s Stakar goes, his loyal number-two Martinex is right by his side. The spiky crystal-faced Ravager first appeared in Vol. 2 and is back once again in Vol. 3. He’s played by none other than Michael Rosenbaum, best known as Smallville‘s Lex Luthor. Although these two films are the only times he’s worked with Gunn on-screen, Rosenbaum is a close friend of the director’s in real-life.

Stephen Blackehart 27bo

Yondu and Ravagers Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Stephen Blackehart might just be the original James Gunn regular, as he first worked with the filmmaker on his infamous screenwriting debut, 1996’s Tromeo and Juliet. Since then, the pair have teamed up again and again on Slither, The Belko Experiment (which Gunn wrote), and Slither (which Gunn produced). On top of embodying Ravager Krahl in Vol. 2, Blackehart has played Knowhere citizen Steemie in Guardians, The Holiday Special, and Vol. 3.

Mikaela Hoover 1y6313

Alongside Cardellini, Gunn enlisted another of his frequent collaborators to voice Rocket and Lylla’s friend Floor, the adorable muzzled, spider-legged rabbit. Floor is played by Mikaela Hoover, who previously appeared in Super, The Belko Experiment, and The Suicide Squad. This is Hoover’s second time in the MCU after appearing in the flesh as Nova Prime’s Assistant in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Daniela Melchior 37q61

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

Maybe it’s too soon to call Daniel Melchior a James Gunn regular, but she’s well on her way to becoming one before long. Following on their successful first collaboration on The Suicide Squad, in which she portrayed fan-favorite Ratcatcher II, Melchior cameos in Guardians 3 as Ura, a hard-nosed employee of the Orgosphere who is awkwardly held hostage by Quill and Gamora.

Nathan Fillion w5z1y

Like Melchior, Nathan Fillion’s involvement in Guardians 3 was spoiled in the marketing, although Gunn fans were hardly surprised he was working with his old pal again. Fillion previously played a CGI Kiln inmate in the first Guardians as well as Wonder Man in a Guardians 2 deleted scene. In Vol. 3, he finally appears as himself in the MCU as Orgosentry Master Karja. He’s previously worked with Gunn on Slither, Super, and The Suicide Squad.

Jennifer Holland 345b11

The least surprising cameo in Guardians Vol. 3, however, has to belong to Jennifer Holland, Gunn’s real-life wife. Holland is most known for playing Emilia Harcourt in the DC universe, working with her husband in The Suicide Squad and on Peacemaker (and additionally cameoing in Black Adam and Shazam! 2). In Vol. 3, Holland appears all too briefly as Orgosphere employee Kwol.

Michael Rooker 5l3xb

Yondu holds Peter in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'

James Gunn recently itted that he really didn’t want to kill off Yondu in Vol. 2 as it would put his good pal Michael Rooker out of a job. So it’s no surprise that he found a way to get the actor in both The Holiday Special and Vol. 3. In the threequel, Kraglin receives an inspiring vision of Yondu in the heat of the final battle. His cameo here means that he can still lay claim to being the only actor to appear in all of Gunn’s directorial efforts to date — Slither, Super, The Suicide Squad,, and the three Guardians.

Gregg Henry 186to

Last but not least, Gunn also finds room for Gregg Henry in Guardians 3, confirming his place as the director’s second most prolific regular (he’s appeared in all of his movies bar The Suicide Squad). After debuting as Peter Quill’s grandfather in the first Guardians and cameoing again as the character in Vol. 3, Henry returns right at the end of the threequel as Quill finally returns to Earth. This scene also finally gives Henry’s character a name — Jason Quill (also Peter’s middle name).

A cast this good would be like kryptonite to the MCU. ]]>
<![CDATA[

When it comes to Superman: Legacy, the much-anticipated opening chapter of the rebooted DCU, all fans can think about is who will be cast as our new Big Blue Boy Scout. Whoever has to slip into the bright red boots previously worn by Henry Cavill has a tough job on their hands, but writer (and probably director) James Gunn is likely to go in a completely different direction, as intel suggests the latest Last Son of Krypton will be around 25.

However, a Superman movie is much more than just the hero with his name in the title. Sure, Christopher Reeve might be the star of the 1978 classic, but the contributions of Margot Kidder, Gene Hackman, Marlon Brando, and others helped make it the iconic piece of cinema it is today. In that vein, here are 10 actors Gunn needs to cast in Superman: Legacy who might even manage to steal the show away from the mysterious Man of Steel himself.

Kate McKinnon as Maggie Sawyer 4l6ks

Maggie Sawyer isn’t one of the most recognizable ing characters from the Superman mythos, but that’s why Gunn needs to fix that in Legacy. The Metropolis PD detective — one of the few openly lesbian characters in comics when first introduced in the late 1980s — could be depicted as Clark Kent’s own answer to Batman’s Commissioner Gordon. To add some charisma to the role, we’d need Gunn to hire someone who makes the most of any part they play — like the one and only Kate McKinnon.

Sadie Sink as Lana Lang 5ku4s

Netflix

Outside of the couple’s angst-ridden adolescent romance on Smallville, Lana Lang’s status as Clark’s first love is something that most Superman adaptations tend to skip over. Legacy could bolster her role, however, by either revealing Clark’s relationship with Lana during his teen years via flashbacks or else see her return to his life in the present, throwing a spanner in the works of his blossoming connection with Lois. In either case, Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink would be a brilliant casting choice.

Sheryl Lee Ralph as Martha Kent 2q1e2

Martha Kent is one of the most underrated characters in any Superman story as Clark’s adoptive human mother arguably serves as the moral com of her alien son, pointing him in the right direction, much like Spider-Man’s Aunt May. We’re used to seeing her play a more caustic character in TV’s Abbot Elementary, but Sheryl Lee Ralph could be a tremendous pick to be the latest actress to portray Jonathan Kent’s widow in Superman: Legacy.

Noah Jupe as Jimmy Olsen 2n2u15

Poor Jimmy Olsen, apparently so detested by Zack Snyder that he was killed off in his one and only scene in Batman v Superman. Gunn has the opportunity to go back to basics with The Daily Planet’s intern photographer, then, offering up a keen but wet-behind-the-ears ally for Clark and Lois. Considering that those two will only be in their mid-20s in this flick, Jimmy would have to be even younger, though, making Wonder‘s Noah Jupe (currently 17) the perfect age for the part.

Nathan Fillion as Perry White 672r1

Given James Gunn and Nathan Fillion’s close working relationship, we fully expected the latter’s Suicide Squad character T.D.K. to return for Peacemaker, but that never happened. While he could still pop up in Waller, it might be more fun to cast him in a fresh role in the new DCU. So how about Perry White, The Daily Planet Editor-In-Chief? To be honest, Perry often comes across as a Diet version of J. Jonah Jameson, but Fillion could bring a great comedic energy to the character.

Dave Bautista as Bibbo Bibbowski 5s6rk

Dave Bautista definitely won’t be the DCU’s Bane, but Gunn’s promise that all of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be invited aboard his shiny, new franchise eventually tells us he’ll show up somewhere. And this might be the best role for him. Every other Superman movie has shied away from the long-standing comics character of Bibbo Bibbowski, a tough-guy barman and bruiser who’s nonetheless the Man of Steel’s biggest fan, but Gunn is exactly the sort to finally give him a shot in live-action.

Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor 1h2z30

Now wouldn’t this just blow everyone’s minds? Michael Rosenbaum is another of Gunn’s closest collaborators, so it’s a given he’ll show up in the DCU somewhere. But it would be really something if he was brought back as Lex Luthor, following his still definitive portrayal of the villain on Smallville. His Lex wouldn’t have to be — and probably shouldn’t be – the main villain, but this multiversal crossover would be the coolest of its kind since (fellow) Michael Keaton’s Batman return in The Flash.

Jude Law as Brainiac 4n4k2t

When it comes to who should be the central antagonist of Legacy, though, there’s one extremely obvious contender: Brainiac, the most notable Superman villain yet to have a movie appearance to his name. As for who should finally bring the knowledge-hoarding android to life, Jude Law would be a smart choice. Not only would he nail the robot’s cool and sinister demeanor, he has a secret history with Superman himself, as he came close to landing the part of the Man of Steel in the early 2000s.

Henry Cavill as Jor-El 4lq4h

In the words of James Gunn himself, Henry Cavill was severely “d*cked” around by DC, which is a true crime given how much Cavill loves Superman. So maybe Gunn can extend an olive branch to both the star and his loyal fans by offering Cavill a small but key role in Legacy, that of Kal-El’s biological father, Jor-El? Having Cavill take on the part that Russell Crowe played opposite him a decade ago could be a moving way to close the door on his DC career by bringing it full circle.

Camila Mendes as Lois Lane j416o

Naturally, though, the most important ing role outside of Superman in a Superman movie is that of Lois Lane, the First Lady of the DC Universe herself. There are various directions Gunn could go with the character, but a surprisingly convincing Reddit thread has argued that Riverdale‘s Camila Mendes would be a spot-on pick for The Daily Planet’s greatest reporter, and honestly it’s hard to disagree. She has the perfect energy, is the perfect age, and she’s already got married to TV Supes Tyler Hoechlin in a movie.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.

Now this would be destined to ignite plenty of online fury.]]>

James Gunn didn’t hold back when itting that he’d love to find roles in the DCU for all of his Guardians of the Galaxy collaborators, which instantly sent shivers down the spine about Chris Pratt boarding another superhero franchises. The filmmaker has always found room for his closest friends and most regular cohorts, with Michael Rosenbaum getting tongues wagging as a result.

The actor played Lex Luthor on Smallville for seven seasons, and he’s no stranger to the world of DC after lending his vocal talents to a number of animated features, TV shows, and even video games. He’s also been happy to reiterate that he’s love nothing more than to reprise the part in a full-blown Superman blockbuster, which is nothing if not coincidental.

As well as voicing Martinex in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Rosenbaum is well known as one of Gunn’s best buddies, with the two having been thick as thieves for well over a decade at this point. Curiously, the 50 year-old has changed his Twitter profile picture to an image of Lex for what’s said to be the first time ever, less than 48 hours before the first wave of DC projects are announced.

Is it a coincidence? Trolling? Somewhere in between? Mercifully, the answers will emerge sooner rather than later, but you can only imagine the backlash and indignation were Gunn to reboot Superman and bring back somebody who’d already played Lex Luthor a decade ago in a series than ran for 10 seasons and ended over a decade ago, especially when it happens to be one of his BFFs.

An iconic DC actor wants to return as Lex Luthor once more.]]>
<![CDATA[

Warner Bros. and DC Studio recently announced they’d be making changes to cast , and now, in lieu of a Lex Luthor, an actor that once played the role himself is nominating himself for consideration.

While the change of cast means we’re saying goodbye to Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, it also is a farewell to Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor. At this point, it’s currently uncertain if the villain would return to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.

However, in the instance that it does, Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum is ready for the challenge. Rosenbaum replied to a fan on Twitter that he hopes that Warner Bros. would consider him to play Lex Luthor in the DCU, after having played Luthor for seven years on the CW show. He also played and voiced other DC characters throughout his career in shows like Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

If Warner Bros need someone with extensive experience in DC, he would be the perfect candidate.

It is important to note that Rosenbaum has also worked with Gunn in the past. Appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., Rosenbaum played Martinex, a ravager in Stakar Ogord’s Team.

All we know so far about DC’s plans for Superman is that they want to focus on the hero’s story during his younger years. Gunn made it clear that Cavill was too old to play the part that he envisioned, hence why he’s no longer returning to play the iconic DC hero.

So far, no cast have been announced, but fingers crossed that Gunn has seen Rosenbaum’s tweet.

<![CDATA[

Breaking In has broken back onto Fox’s schedule. Deadline reports that the Christian Slater led comedy that many thought had been busted by the network is being revived. The series, which debuted to excellent numbers in the post American Idol slot on Wednesdays back in April, fell off dramatically without the Idol lead-in in May. Ratings for Breaking In’s final episode in May were in the range of a meager 3 million viewers. Breaking In star Odette Annable certainly thought the series was done for as she has signed on as a regular on the new season of House on Fox. Annable will play one of Dr. House’s new team behind bars. TVLine reports however that Annable’s deal with House allows her to return to Breaking In while remaining on House. Breaking In is a comedy that centers on the eccentric owner of a security company, played by Christian Slater, and his team of geeks and criminals, including Bret Harrison, Alphonso McAuley, Trevor Moore, Michael Rosenbaum and Odette Annable, who solve unsolvable security problems. Breaking In is the show that just won’t die. According to the Deadline story, the show was set for the 2009-2010 season before Fox ed on it. Sony kept the series alive and in November of ’09 the network ordered two more scripts and then officially picked up the series. So why did Fox reconsider canceling Breaking In? The Deadline story doesn’t make any accusations but Fox did announce the Breaking In deal alongside a deal to pick up another project from the show’s creator Adam F. Goldberg. That series, an as yet untitled 80’s set family comedy, had been pursued by all four major networks before landing at Fox. Was the Breaking In deal a payoff to get Goldberg’s other show? It’s fair to speculate. Potential quid pro quo aside, might you give Breaking In a second chance? I can tell you that I liked what I saw of the series, especially Christian Slater’s eccentric boss; he’s both cool and creepy in classic Christian Slater fashion. Breaking In is set to pull a Family Guy and return from cancellation at mid-season on Fox.
