Jonathan Majors‘ future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is effectively over, but he’s not abandoning all hope of returning as Kang the Conqueror. His career took a serious hit after he was arrested in March 2023 on domestic violence charges, which led to a misdemeanor assault conviction and a one-year counseling program. As a result, he lost his contract with Marvel, and several projects, including the film Magazine Dreams, were put on hold. 2o5v47

The long-delayed release of Magazine Dreams could be a turning point for Majors. The film had great potential when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Jan. 2023, especially following his roles in Devotion, Creed III, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, his legal troubles stalled his progress and left his future in Hollywood unclear.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Majors revealed how these past two years have affected his career, sharing that navigating legal issues has changed his professional path. He talked about personal growth during this time and expressed gratitude for his from family, friends, and colleagues, especially his fiancée, Meagan Good, and actors Michael B. Jordan and Matthew McConaughey.

Majors wants to come back 1267h

Majors’ interest in returning to the MCU suggests he wants to move forward and make amends regarding his past. When asked if he would take the role, instead of feeling down about what happened, he was positive, “Yeah, of course, I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them.”

He spoke positively about Marvel Studios and his experiences working with his co-stars, showing he’s still eager to collaborate. Majors said, “Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them.”

While Marvel hasn’t officially responded to his potential return, the chances of them inviting him back are slim. Majors’ Kang was going to be at the core of the next two Avengers movies, though these will now instead put Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom front and center.

Majors’ legal issues have not only affected his work but have also led him to reflect on himself and strive for personal growth. He said, “Now I’m in a space where I have enough confidence in myself – not my talent but in myself, the thing I’ve been sitting with for two years. I can give you all of me as a character between action and cut, and I can give you all of me as myself in the trailer and (off the set).”

Majors itted that he wants to improve both personally and as an actor, indicating that he’s ready to take responsibility and make positive changes. This personal journey is closely linked to his professional goals and may influence his future projects.

The way forward for Majors in Hollywood is still unclear. His willingness to return to the MCU is a good sign of his dedication to his career, but he shouldn’t waste time sitting by the phone waiting for Kevin Feige to call. At the end of the day, he committed some serious crimes, and not every fan forgave him.

Jonathan Majors‘ once-promising Hollywood career took a major hit following his highly publicized legal battle. However, one of his biggest ers is standing by him through thick and thin. Despite the fallout from Majors’ conviction for misdemeanor assault and harassment, Creed III director and Majors’ co-star, Michael B. Jordan, is making it clear that he still believes in his former co-star’s talent.

And that’s not all. Jordan is also open to working with him again.

Majors’ career nosedive 674v5

Before his March 2023 arrest, Majors was at the top of his game. He had just starred in Creed III, played Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and was gearing up for an Oscar campaign for Magazine Dreams. The industry was ready to make him the next big thing, with his role as the MCU’s next major villain putting him on track for life-changing success. However, all of that changed when Majors was convicted of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment involving his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari.

As a result, he lost major projects, including his role as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hollywood distanced itself from him, and his future in the industry became uncertain. Majors was sentenced to a year of rehabilitative counseling, and a 52-week domestic violence intervention program. Whether or not audiences and studios will take him back remains an open question.

Jordan, who not only starred alongside Majors in Creed III but also directed the film, has been vocal about his . Per The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan mentioned in an email that he would love to make Creed IV, among other projects with Majors. In a recent interview with GQ, Jordan confirmed that he would be open to collaborating with Majors again. He even openly showed for his co-actor.

“Tough situation… but he’s doing great, just got engaged. I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and [his] handling [of] it. I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy.”

That kind of endorsement from Jordan, one of Hollywood’s most respected actors and directors, could be crucial for Majors, especially as he tries to rebuild his career. Jordan’s words may help shift industry perception, signaling that the former MCU star still has allies in high places. With Creed IV officially confirmed, Jordan has a real opportunity to bring Majors back into the fold. In Creed III, Majors played Damian Anderson, Adonis Creed’s childhood friend-turned-rival, and his performance was widely praised. Bringing him back for a sequel would not only provide Majors with the much-needed comeback but also make sense for the Creed franchise.

Of course, the decision isn’t entirely up to Jordan. Studio executives will have the final say, and they may or may not hesitate to take a chance on Majors, given his recent legal troubles. Hollywood tends to be cautious when it comes to controversial figures, especially in today’s climate. However, the industry has also shown that redemption arcs are possible. One of the biggest factors in Majors’ potential comeback is audience reception.

While Hollywood may eventually offer him roles, it ultimately depends on whether moviegoers are willing to his projects. His film, Magazine Dreams, which received critical acclaim at Sundance, will be a litmus test. If audiences respond well to his performance, studios may be more inclined to take a chance on him.

Michael B. Jordan has become more vocal with his for Jonathan Majors in recent weeks. It seems the Sinners actor is trying to help his Creed III co-star revive his career after he was completely shut out of Hollywood for physically assaulting his girlfriend in early 2023.

In the cover story for GQ‘s March 2025 issue, Jordan confessed that he would work with Majors again, saying: “I’m proud of his resilience and his strength through it all, and [his] handling [of] it.”

Readers will recall that the former Marvel star was convicted of assault in the 3rd degree and harassment against his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari, in Dec. 2023. CCTV footage released to the public during the trial showed the then couple getting physical with each other as Majors shoves Jabbari into a car. The woman then pushes him back and chases after him as Majors runs away.

The case, as tends to happen, unearthed a number of other allegations against the actor, stemming from his time in the Yale School of Drama and beyond. A scathing Rolling Stone piece contained further accusations of domestic abuse from two other former girlfriends, as well as s of aggression on set by staff that had worked with Majors on films like Magazine Dreams.

Majors has consistently maintained his innocence regarding all claims, including the ones he was found guilty of in court. Now, in light of Magazine Dreams‘ much-delayed release, the actor seems determined to change the tide of public opinion, and has apparently enlisted Jordan to lead the charge.

The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023, was dropped by distributor Searchlight as a result of Majors’ conviction. It was picked up by Briarcliff Entertainment in October 2024, and will hit screens domestically starting Mar. 21.

In a bid to aid promotion for the film, which has suffered under the bad press surrounding Majors’ fall from grace, Jordan shared a teaser to his Instagram story earlier this month. Some speculated this was the beginning of an attempted public comeback for the disgraced actor, who was once en route to become the face of New Hollywood.

Jordan and Majors grew close on the set of the 2023 boxing film, the first in the Creed series to be directed by the former, in his debut behind the camera. Majors played Damian Anderson, the best-friend-turned-rival to Jordan’s protagonist Adonis Creed. “Michael B and I, we’re best friends at this point … I love that guy and he loves me,” the 35-year-old told Deadline in Jan. 2023.

While Jordan didn’t exactly return the love during Majors’ trial — or at least not publicly — he seems to be making up for it now. He told GQ the ordeal was hard to watch, describing it as a “tough situation.” “But he’s doing great, just got engaged,” he continued, referring to Majors’ engagement to actress and model Meagan Good. He concluded, “I’m glad he’s good. That’s my boy.”

If Majors does regain the public’s trust, it wouldn’t be the first time a fellow actor helped an assaulter clean up their image. There’s a long history of it in Hollywood.

Just last year, Sharon Stone and Liam Neeson were among the people attempting to re-launch Kevin Spacey’s career, defending his right to come back to the industry and saying he’s reformed after mountains of sexual abuse accusations. And who can forget the many, many, high-profile figures who, in 2010, signed a petition to get Roman Polanski out of prison following a conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor? And we won’t even address the U.S.-President-shaped elephant in the room.

She is happy and to her, that's all that matters.]]>
<![CDATA[

In an industry where staying power always takes precedence over any other major achievement, Meagan Good has managed to craft a 30-year career. Starting with Friday alongside Ice Cube as a child in 1995, she’s been in hit after hit ever since. She’s talented, and her onscreen presence is always gracious, so it makes sense to everyone how she’s managed to stay where she has. What doesn’t make sense to some, however, is her relationship with Jonathan Majors.

At the brief peak of his career, Majors had the entertainment world in the palm of his hands. Not only was he trailblazing in the independent film scene, but he was also giving us glimpses of undeniable star quality with his performance in Creed 3 alongside Michael B. Jordan. Last but not least, Majors had just been named the main villain in the MCU and his Kang the Conqueror boasted to be one step above Josh Brolin’s Thanos.

But everything changed in early 2023 when Majors became involved in a criminal case involving allegations of physically assaulting his former girlfriend. Almost as quickly as he built his reputation in Hollywood, he lost everything, including his role in the MCU. But somehow, through all that media and career whirlwind, he won over Good’s heart, and after a couple of years of courtship, they’re now engaged.

Meagan Good’s standing with her fans has made it difficult for many to accept that she’s still with Majors. Some even started speculating that the entire relationship must be a publicity stunt to repair Majors’ reputation in the public. But as far as Good is concerned, that’s so not the case.

When Good and her co-stars stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss their final season of Harlem and the topic of her relationship inevitably came up, Good’s co-star was quick to first clear up those publicity stunt rumors. Jerrie Johnson told the hosts, “Y’all (fans) don’t know how publicity works, first of all… this doesn’t make sense for publicity.” Charlamagne Tha God agreed, adding that Meagan Good wouldn’t even have anything to gain from such an arrangement.

Eventually, everyone from the studio needed to hear from Good herself about whether the negative reaction affected her in any way. When Jess Hilarious asked how she managed to deal with the scrutiny, Good shared that she leaned into her faith when times got challenging.

“Literally, I was talking to God … and I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. And I’ve learned along the way that not only will things not always make sense to me, but sometimes they won’t make sense to other people. That’s OK, as long as you are in alignment with God and you’re trusting, you know, the path that you’re on … and the more that I’ve done that, the happier I’ve been.”

Johnson also shared with Charlamagne that the two were madly in love with each other even before the trial, contrary to the gossip that the couple got together at the start of the trial for the sake of keeping appearances. Since then, according to Good, this is the happiest she’s ever been. The actress isn’t the only one who is very public and open about her love for Majors. Majors recently broke down into tears at an awards show, declaring his love for Good on stage.

At the end of the day, everything was looking up for Jonathan Majors, and he only has himself to blame for his downfall. Whether the public will ever extend him as much grace as Good has done is quite unpredictable. There’s a possibility we may never witness a comeback from Majors, as bigger stars have lost their positions in Hollywood for doing far less. Good, however, will seemingly always be a part of our entertainment diet, and you can watch latest her show Harlem on Amazon Prime Video.

Kang the Conqueror has been conquered — and it looks like we know who’s responsible. As we enter 2025, the MCU is in a curious place as we’re now almost two years from the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude the Multiverse Saga. And almost two years ago we met the character who was supposed to be the big bad of said event movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s Kang.

Of course, we all know that Kang’s been erased from the Sacred Timeline at this point, in light of Jonathan Majors’ fall from grace, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping back up to the plate to inhabit the role of Doctor Doom. Within the MCU itself, however, there’s been no explanation for why Kang — once pitched as an unstoppable multiversal miscreant — has vanished without a trace. That said, it’s just possible Marvel provided its first (and possibly only) explanation. Everyone, say thank you What If…? season 3.

In the opening scenes of What If…?‘s two-part series finale, “What If… The Watcher Disappeared">destroying the Council of Kangs, clarifying why he’s now the Multiverse Saga’s main villain, but maybe he won’t need to bother as the heroes of What If…? have beaten him too it. Honestly, any direct reference to Kang and his unceremonious removal from the board in either Avengers 5 or 6 will be awkward at best, so maybe it would be to the franchise’s benefit to simply imply the Council’s downfall in this way. For an antagonist who was first defeated by Ant-Man of all heroes, it would be kind of fitting if his ultimate end came at the hands of Howard the Duck’s offspring.

He’s ready, but are audiences?]]>
<![CDATA[

Few have soared as high and crashed as hard as Jonathan Majors. There was a point where it seemed like he was going to be the biggest star of all time, then came the whole beating up his girlfriend thing and it all went away. Is he ready for a comeback? Looks like it’s coming whether the world is ready for it or not.

Right before everything fell apart for him, Majors was going to be the villain in a whole phase of Marvel movies (before they pivoted to Dr. Doom) and there was Oscar talk about a bodybuilding movie called Magazine Dreams.

When Majors was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari, Searchlight dropped the film. He was also dropped from starring in Lionsgate’s 48 Hours in Vegas, about Dennis Rodman. He hasn’t done any studio films since his conviction, but he did get a role in an indie film called Merciless, courtesy of director Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of Dune director Denis Villeneuve.

Magazine Dreams will now come out through Briarcliff Entertainment and hit theaters on March 21, 2025, almost two years after it drew mountainous acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival.

The movie was written and directed by Elijah Bynum, and Majors stars in it as an amateur bodybuilder named Killian Maddox. The cast includes Haley Bennett, Mike O’Hearn, Harrison Page, Taylour Paige, and Harriet Sansom Harris.

Briarcliff is no stranger to courting controversy. In October, the company premiered the Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice, which made about $17 million worldwide. There’s always the possibility that Magazine Dreams will reignite Majors’ career, but who knows.

In a review of the movie, critic David Rooney called Majors’ work in the movie an “all-in performance for the ages, layered with as much vulnerability as anger, and it’s to Majors’ credit that our hearts ache for Killian even — or perhaps especially — when he’s out of control.”

Part of Majors’ appeal was his ability to channel an almost primal rage that would seethe underneath his eyes. It made him simultaneously vulnerable and terrifying, and it was hard for audiences to look away. That dynamic is apparently on full display in the film, as at one point Killian apparently gets so mad at a painting contractor that he struggles not to lose his temper.

“I control my emotions, my emotions don’t control me,” he says in the film. Before his assault charges, his anger and rage were seen as superhuman acting abilities. Looking at it through the lens of his conviction, it might be more of a case of art imitating life.

“Its flaws notwithstanding, Magazine Dreams is a profoundly unsettling experience from which it’s impossible to look away,” Rooney said.

Earlier this year, Majors appeared on ABC News Live, and told Linsey Davis that the whole ordeal of his arrest and conviction was “very, very, very hard, and very difficult, and confusing in many ways.”

He bemoaned that “everything has kinda gone away.” Time will tell if everything starts to come back after his supposedly incredible performance in the film.

The actor is pretty much a Hollywood outcast now - does this new development change anything?]]>
<![CDATA[

After more than a year of legal battles, Jonathan Majors’ ex has dropped her lawsuit against him. Grace Jabbari had accused him of assault and defamation, which Majors has strongly denied.

This raises more than a few questions. Are his legal troubles over? Do we know why Jabbari dropped the suit? What do Majors’ career prospects look like now? All questions that need answering, so let’s take a look at answering each one.

What does this all mean for the Marvel star? 1oi3c

First of all it’s important to recognise that this is actually the second legal case Jabbari has made against Majors. The lawsuit was filed in March of this year, and is separate to the two counts of reckless assault and harassment, which Majors has already been found guilty of.

Majors was accused of subjecting Jabbari to physical and verbal abuse, which all boiled over in the back of a chauffeured vehicle where Jabbari claims the actor hit her head and twisted her arm behind her back, fracturing her finger. Majors accused her of being the aggressor, claiming he was trying to get his phone and get away. He was convicted in December 2023, and sentenced to probation the following April.

The suit filed by Jabbari a month before his sentence accused the Creed III star of assault and defamation for continuing to publicly protest his innocence, and for his claim that he had “never struck a woman,” though texts and recordings from the trial last year suggest otherwise. While the lawsuit has now been dropped, Majors’ previous conviction has not been overturned.

Is Jonathan Majors still canceled? 621i3u

Majors’ future in Hollywood seems still very much dead at this point. Prior to his conviction, the actor was set to play the main villain through phase five and six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but upon his being found guilty, Marvel dropped Majors and went in a different direction in an attempt at damage control and to distance itself from the disgraced star. Another film, Magazine Dreams, starring Majors was shelved after the controversy, but has since been picked up by another distributor, and will supposedly be released in 2025. The Lovecraft Country star is also attached to another film in pre-production, Merciless, which does not have a release date yet.

Why did Grace Jabbari drop the lawsuit? 382k2o

Brittany Henderson, Jabbari’s lawyer, said the suit was “favorably settled,” but did not comment any further, so we’ll llikely never know the full story. In a statement released November 21, Henderson praised Grace’s bravery, “It takes true bravery to hold someone with this level of power and acclaim able.” Meanwhile, Majors is apparently preparing counterclaims against his ex.

The star's legal troubles have come to an end.]]>
<![CDATA[

Jonathan Majors is no longer being sued by his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who accused the actor of assault and defamation in Mar. 2024. She claimed that the former Marvel Cinematic Universe actor had defamed her by continuing to claim that he had never laid hands on a woman in interviews following convictions being handed out for misdemeanor reckless assault and harassment in a court the year prior.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024 lawyers for both parties filed a notice with the court cited by Variety. This notice says “All claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice.” Neither party shared a reason for the dismissal, however, now that they have been withdrawn they can not be refiled.

Majors’ legal troubles began in March of 2023 when he was arrested in New York for domestic violence. During a car trip in Manhattan on the night of March 25 things turned physical between Majors and Jabbari which resulted in the MCU actor being arrested.

In December of 2023, Majors was charged with two misdemeanor counts and sentenced to attend domestic violence counseling. Following the verdict Majors appeared on Good Morning America and continued to claim he had never laid his hands on women. This is what sparked the lawsuit that has been officially dropped this week.

Majors’ actions cost him a big deal in Hollywood. The star was poised to be a pillar of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe where he had already appeared in several projects portraying Kang the Conqueror. After he was found guilty of the two misdemeanor charges Marvel cut ties with the actor, and instead pivoted to bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom to take Kang’s place as the next big threat to the MCU. Alongside the Marvel aspect of it all, Majors was dropped by his management and PR firms shortly after his arrest.

The actor continues to claim innocence and plans to attempt a return to Hollywood. Right now the only project that he is attached to is Merciless, a thriller by Martin Villeneuve which he was announced for earlier this year. Right now the movie is in its pre-production phase. Magazine Dreams a film featuring the actor that was initially set to be released in 2023 will also arrive in 2025 now that Briarcliff Entertainment has picked it up from Searchlight Pictures.

You want to know why we’re 100% certain James Gunn isn’t going to make a Shazam! 3? Not only is its 2023 sequel, Fury of the Gods, one of the most embarrassing superhero movie flops of all time, but its cast seems dead-set on ending their careers one after the other. First, Zachary Levi goes full anti-vax Trump er and now it’s his on-screen sister Meagan Good‘s turn.

Good — who played the superpowered adult form of Billy Batson’s foster sister, Darla, in the two DC movies — has announced that she’s engaged to an actor that most in Hollywood wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot barge pole. Namely, former Marvel star Jonathan Majors, who was convicted of domestic abuse last year and has since been dropped by his reps and has no screen projects in the works

Not to cramp on the actress’ happy moment, then, but the online reaction to Good and Majors’ big news is earning a lot of skeptical and/or cynical responses. Some believe the couple’s engagement is merely a “PR” move to resuscitate Major’s career, with some theorizing that the couple won’t actually get around to tying the knot.

https://twitter.com/gloriousafflict/status/1858465842817597890

One even joked that Good’s loved-up public appearances with her now-fiance are some of the “best acting” she’s done since her breakout role in 1995’s Friday.

Majors and Good first got together back in May 2023, which came just two months after the ex-Kang the Conqueror actor was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Good’s reputation has taken something of a hit ever since. Particularly given how she was married to Colombia pictures exec/preacher DeVon Franklin for nine years prior to their divorce in 2022.

Good and Majors announced their engagement when the couple appeared together on the red carpet of the Ebony Power 100 Gala in L.A. this Nov. 18, and Good showed off her diamond engagement ring to the cameras. Good explained that the duo chose this event to make their news public as their very first meeting occurred at this same event two years ago… in a bathroom.

“Ebony Power 100 is the event that we met at in the bathrooms,” Good revealed to E! Online, “in the unisex bathroom.”

While Majors and Good appeared all smiles at the gala, and the topic of Majors’ recent conviction never came up, the Shazam! actress did tackle the issue while speaking to TODAY this past summer.

“I take everyone’s opinion and advice into , for sure, but at the end of the day, I’m the one who has to live my life,” Good declared on the July 9 episode of TODAY. “I’m the one who has to get to Heaven one day, prayerfully, and give God an of what I did. So, I want to be responsible for the choices that I make. I also want to live the life that I want to live.”

For now, Good’s career hasn’t suffered from her association with either Majors or the flagging Shazam! franchise — she recently played the lead in Tyler Perry’s Amazon Prime Video directorial effort Divorce in the Black. So long as she doesn’t start appearing with Levi at Trump rallies, she might escape unscathed. Although further roles in either the DC or Marvel universes seem unlikely.

Let it first be established that the tweet you’re about to see should not be considered as grounded in reality, and in fact comes from a mostly carbless X whose findings are constructed from online anecdotes and whatever possibilities might get them views, and held together with the media literacy equivalent of Elmer’s Glue and a single paperclip. I’m entirely using the tweet as an in to talk about how insanely brainless Marvel‘s entire approach to and detachment from Kang was.

https://twitter.com/Marvel_Updates_/status/1843759278198559009

For the record, here’s the “source”:

Moving on, though, let’s pretend for a moment that the lack of hype surrounding Kang was the reason that the character was abandoned, rather than the untimely nosedive of Jonathan Majors‘ career. In either scenario, Marvel would have been prioritizing market-driven storytelling, which is precisely as dystopian as it sounds.

Look at the patterns that have cropped up since Spider-Man: No Way Home; a film that everyone lost their minds over because of Andrew Garfield’s and Tobey Maguire’s presence. Except, no one appreciated their presence because of the very palpable narrative heft they gave to a distinctly Spider-Man story, but instead because of some esoteric-yet-banal combination of nostalgia and brand recognition. What theatrical release happened next? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, John Krasinski and all.

Enter Jonathan Majors, an absolute acting powerhouse whose range, gravitas, and then-popularity opened up astounding possibilities for a character like Kang. He debuts as a variant of the character in the first season of Loki in the summer of 2021, and less than a year later, we find out that The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have swapped release dates, putting Quantumania at Feb. 17 and The Marvels at July 28 (prior to the delay). And who’s the main villain of Quantumania? Kang the Conqueror.

Fast forward to the spring of 2023, and Majors becomes the center of a domestic violence scandal that harbors a death grip on the public’s attention. Is Majors’ tarnished image still the pillar that the Multiverse Saga wants to build itself upon? We don’t get a straight answers for months upon months upon months, and then we finally find out that Majors has been dropped by Marvel shortly after his guilty verdict comes through.

Marvel, for some reason, decides not to recast a character that has been so engrained in the identity of Majors for years at this point. Go figure. But without a Thanos-level threat to build up to, they’re now in even more narrative hot water than they already were. And by the time we got to Deadpool & Wolverine, it became clear that Marvel has been treating its films like brands rather than stories; the only difference now was that Marvel was consciously leaning into its brand, and seemingly abandoning stories altogether.

But there was still the problem of having no Thanos-level threat to build another Infinity SagaEndgame event around, and with Marvel now fully committing to commodification, there was only one route that made sense; rope the one and only Robert Downey Jr. back into the franchise as Doctor Doom. Cue the deafening cheers from Hall H. Mission preemptively accomplished.

So maybe Marvel dropped Kang because of Majors’ arrest, or maybe it was because there wasn’t a lot of hype (which, let’s face it, is almost certainly nonsense), or maybe it was some other third thing. What’s beyond clear, however, is that Marvel’s failures entirely have to do with its films existing for brand recognition and commodification before they exist for themselves, and if 2025 doesn’t turn things around, then this aforementioned dystopia might only be in its early stages.

Warner Bros. has been on a rock-solid roll with its trailers lately. After last week gave us our first proper peek at Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have emerged this week with Sinners, which just happens to be the duo’s vampire movie we’ve been hearing whispers about for the last little while.

Let’s all say it together: this trailer is absolutely oozing with cinematic hype. The dramatic intensity and morbid mystery of it all speaks for itself, but anchoring it all is the promise that Coogler — the filmmaker who earned the superhero film genre its first-ever Academy Award Best Picture nomination with Black Panther — is about to emerge from the kitchen once again, and when Coogler cooks, we all eat.

So why on Earth did Jonathan Majors, who has absolutely nothing to do with Sinners, start trending on X following the trailer’s release?

https://twitter.com/DerikNovvaj23iv/status/1838597696807928095

Indeed, between false claims that Coogler cast Majors in the film, suggesting that it was supposed to star Majors, and trying to link Jordan’s role in this film with his once-friendship with Majors, the internet is bending over backward trying to make the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star relevant again.

Majors does, of course, have a history with the two creatives. The actor collaborated with the pair on Creed III, which Jordan starred, directed, and produced, and which Coogler produced and was given story credit on. And while a Twitter bot with a lot of time on its hands could maybe spin this into Coogler and Jordan moving on from Majors, it’s such a gross narrative stretch that it hardly bears mentioning.

Would Majors have been a good fit for Sinners? Yes, probably; he’s proven time and time again to be a fantastic actor. In fact, he’d be a good fit for a lot of movies that he was never cast in, but he wasn’t cast in them because he’s currently undergoing a 52-week, in-person domestic violence intervention program as of April earlier this year.

Some will call Majors an idiot for ruining his career and depriving us of potential performances in films like Sinners. Others will say he should have been cast in Sinners regardless of what’s going on with him right now. Others still will continue to demonize him for what we’ve heard about him in the wake of his arrest, trial, and sentencing.

All of those things are a complete and utter waste of time, because the overwhelming majority of such folks spewing such sentiments have absolutely no stake — personal, professional, or otherwise — in the life of Jonathan Majors. In all likelihood, he’s too preoccupied with the intervention program to be “mad as hell” about something with which he wasn’t involved in the first place, but so long as the denizens of X need to fill their days with useless opinions about drama they couldn’t be less involved in, Majors’ name will keep coming up any time there’s an in for it.

Majors may act again, he may not. He may grow as a person, he may not. He may have been forgiven by the people he’s wronged, he may not have been. Bottom line? Majors’ life is his own, and you need to find better things to do than think about it.

In fact, one of those things can be how awesome Coogler’s new movie is going to be; a statement that will be proven true once Sinners releases to theaters on March 7, 2025.

‘If that’s what Marvel wants’ 606y37 Jonathan Majors is threatening to return to the MCU to steal his thunder back from Robert Downey Jr. https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/jonathan-majors-is-threatening-to-return-to-the-mcu-to-steal-his-thunder-back-from-robert-downey-jr/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/jonathan-majors-is-threatening-to-return-to-the-mcu-to-steal-his-thunder-back-from-robert-downey-jr/#respond <![CDATA[Christian Bone]]> Wed, 31 Jul 2024 18:47:53 +0000 <![CDATA[Celebrities]]> <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Avengers: Doomsday]]> <![CDATA[Jonathan majors]]> <![CDATA[Kang]]> <![CDATA[MCU]]> <![CDATA[Robert Downey Jr.]]> https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1732983 <![CDATA[
Avengers 8: Kang vs. Doom? ]]>
<![CDATA[

Maybe the Kang dynasty isn’t quite as over as it seems. Days after Marvel confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will portray Dr. Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, the rebooted form of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the movie’s original title star and arch-villain Jonathan Majors has broken his silence on officially getting replaced in his all-important MCU role.

While Downey’s Doom isn’t expected to be directly connected to Kang the Conqueror, the multiversal maniac was all set to be the big bad of the franchise’s Multiverse Saga himself. Until, that is, Majors was convicted on assault charges last December, with Marvel officially axing the actor the very same day. Suddenly, a multi-project, multi-media presence was cut short, reduced to just Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and two seasons of Loki.

Majors has now given his honest reaction to Downey taking over in his stead, however, and it seems he hasn’t yet given up hope of making an unexpected return to the MCU to finish Kang’s arc.

What has Jonathan Majors said about Kang’s doomsday and a potential MCU return? 5z4q53

“Yeah, heartbroken. Of course,” Majors itted when asked by TMZ if he was upset over the Downey casting news. “I love Kang. Doctor Doom is wicked, though.”

Despite how much it might sting to have the Iron Man legend steal his thunder, Majors indicated that he would still be more than willing to suit up as Kang once more if Marvel came a-calling. “Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang,” the Creed III star said. “If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants then let’s roll. Hell yeah.”

At first glance, Marvel extending an invitation to Majors to reprise Kang may seem unlikely, given that his assault conviction has left the once extremely popular star on the rise without any major Hollywood projects in the works. That said, stranger comebacks have happened — Downey’s own included. RDJ was infamously arrested multiple times and even spent time in jail due to his substance abuse in the 1990s, but these days he’s a dual MCU icon.

In fact, Majors was directly asked about how his situation compares to Downey’s by TMZ. The actor seemed gracious over Downey getting the chance to make a comeback through his Marvel success, even if he did hint at an underlying resentment over how that contrasts with his own treatment by the studio.

“I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love … and [he’s] being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level,” Majors stated in response to the loaded question. “I didn’t really get that.”

Obviously, the big difference between Downey and Majors’ criminal histories is that the former’s was years into his past when Marvel took a chance on him in 2008, whereas the latter’s conviction was a matter of months ago. Nevertheless, Majors certainly seems committed to trying to get his career back on track, even if it’s safe to say that for the moment the day belongs to Doom, and not Kang.
