Wonder what J.K. Rowling would say about this.]]>
<![CDATA[

People like J.K. Rowling will often claim that their crusade against the trans community is all in the name of protecting biological women. However, what would they say if the laws they actually did more harm to these women than good? 246657

Well that’s exactly what has happened at the Liberty Hotel in Boston. According to CBSnews.com, a lesbian couple claimed that they were confronted in the women’s toilets by a security guard who believed that one of them was a biological man. Security then demanded that they show identification to prove their sex. Even after doing so, they were reportedly ordered to leave the hotel.

“It’s just humiliating overall” 353g3m

Ansley Baker, who was born a woman and identifies as a woman, and Liz Victor were at a Kentucky Derby party at the hotel earlier this month. The couple claimed that they were in the bathroom when a male security guard entered and started banging on the stall doors.

“All of a sudden there was banging on the door. I pulled my shorts up. I hadn’t even tied them. One of the security guards was there telling me to get out of the bathroom, that I was a man in the women’s bathroom. I said, ‘I’m a woman.'”

Kind of ironic that a male guard should enter the women’s bathroom to demand a woman prove her sex to him, what a safe space the Liberty Hotel toilets are. Anyways, Baker was then escorted out of the bathroom, where she claims she was subjected to further verbal abuse from women outside the toilets. “Someone said, ‘Get him out of here,’ referring to me. ‘He’s a creep,’ also referring to me.”

The couple’s story has been shared across social media. On TikTok, people expressed their disgust at how Ansley and Liz were treated by hotel staff. One individual wrote, “Wait until Rowling sees this and realises the law she helped put in place to protect cis women is actively harming cis women.” The Harry Potter author has made her anti-trans sentiments very clear over the past few years.

@pinknews

A lesbian has been kicked out the women’s toilets in a posh Boston hotel for being “a man”, and told to “prove her gender”. Cisgender woman Ansley Baker was staying at the Liberty Hotel in upmarket Beacon Hill, with her girlfriend, Liz Victor, when the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon (3 May). Both had booked in as part of a party watching the Kentucky Derby, and were using the female toilet when a male security guard began banging on the stall doors, they claimed. “One of the security guards was there telling me to get out of the bathroom, telling me I am a man in the women’s bathroom. I told him I was a woman,” CBS News reported Baker saying. Baker claimed she was removed before she had a chance to finish tying her shorts, which was “humiliating”, and was accused of not being a woman by others as she was escorted past them as they waited in line to use the toilets. “Someone said: ‘Get him out of here… he’s a creep’, referring to me,” she said. The security guard then checked their IDs and the situation became heated, resulting in the two women being asked to leave the hotel – part of the Marriott Bonvoy rewards programme – altogether. In an initial statement issued on Monday (5 May), a spokesperson for the hotel accused the pair of sharing a stall. “An incident occurred at the Liberty Hotel on Saturday, where several women alerted security of two adults sharing a bathroom stall,” they said. “The bathroom was cleared out as two adults in one stall are not permitted. After leaving the bathroom, a member of the couple from the stall put their hands on our security team and it was then that they were removed from the premises. “The Liberty has a zero-tolerance policy for any physical altercations on our property. The safety of our guests and staff is our priority, and this event is under investigation.” The women deny sharing a stall, with Victor saying: “If that’s what he thought the issue was, once he opened the stall door, obviously there was only one person in there, so it should’ve been case closed. Let her tie up her shorts and go about her day.” Following an internal investigation, the hotel said the security guard had been suspended from his role and all staff were being retrained “on inclusive practices and guest interaction protocols”. A spokesperson said: “The Liberty Hotel is, and always will, be an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and a place where everyone is welcome and celebrated. “We will continue to educate and train our team, to ensure that everyone feels safe and accepted within our four walls, and guests who do not show tolerance and acceptance towards others will be removed.” The hotel will be making a donation to a local LGBTQ+ organisation. In 2018, the partner of Jessica Walton, the author of trans-inclusive children’s book, such as Introducing Teddy, was “aggressively told her to leave” a bowling alley by a security guard after she used the women’s toilets. In 2021, poet Eloise Stonborough spoke of the number of times she has been questioned when using female facilities, estimating that she has been challenged roughly every one in three visits. More recently, MPs have expressed concern about how last month’s ruling by the UK Supreme Court, which deemed that the protected characteristic of “s3x” in the 2010 Equality Act referred only to “biological women” – and, by consequence that access to single-s3x spaces should be based on biology – would affect lesbian women who do not fit the traditional ideals of femininity and womanhood. MP Dawn Butler told the House of Commons that she had witnessed “butch lesbian” friends being questioned in the women’s toilets. Fellow Labour MP and lesbian Kate Osborne said she is often questioned about her gender and was worried that the court verdict would only make it worse. #lesbian #lgbtqia #transgender #toilet #usnews #boston

While Rowling claims it’s all in the name of protecting women, this perfectly demonstrates how encouraging anti-trans rhetoric not only harms a marginalized group who just want the right to exist, but it also can be harmful to cis-women.

The Liberty Hotel suspends the security guard 4c2j1r

After a short investigation, the Liberty Hotel put the guard on suspension and released a statement claiming it “is and always will be an ally of the LGBTQ+ community and a place where everyone is welcome and celebrated.” However, some may say it’s too little, too late, after Baker and Victor were kicked out of the hotel even after proving to staff (which they shouldn’t have had to do in the first place) that they were biologically female. A previous statement from the hotel claimed that they had received complaints from several women claiming that there were “two adults sharing a bathroom stall.”

The couple denied that they were in the same stall. They also claim that they have neither seen an “apology nor a retraction” from the hotel regarding “their original claims to clarify that Ansley was the only one in the stall.”

J.K. Rowling’s toxic views of the trans community are no secret. It’s practically impossible for anyone in the entertainment industry to be unaware of the vitriol the Harry Potter author spews on a daily basis, so it’s disappointing to many that the original Draco actor, Tom Felton, should still choose to work with her.

At this point, any actor who willingly works with her is tarred with the same brush whether they actually agree with her or not. This is very much the case for Felton, who has seen a wave of negative attention for possibly the first time in his career.

What is Tom Felton’s role in the new Harry Potter show? 716f25

While Felton won’t be making an appearance on screen for the Harry Potter reboot he has expressed interest in returning as a part of the crew. Reports last week indicated that the star would indeed be making his grand return after he “endeared himself to Warner Bros.” He will be the only member of the original cast to be working on the new project.

The last few years have seen Rowling consistently attack the trans community despite them being a marginalized group who simply want the right to be seen and recognized for who they are. Many former cast have already denounced and distanced themselves from the once beloved author, something which only seems to have further enraged her.

Despite this, Felton has refused to condemn Rowling’s attacks on the trans community and now his decision to continue working with her has solidified in the minds of many that he seemingly doesn’t have an issue with her views.

Fans are disappointed 345666

Naturally this comes as a disappointment to fans of the franchise, many of whom looked up to Felton prior to this. One disappointed individual took to TikTok to air their grievances with the actor, telling him he “peaked at 11” and that he hadn’t managed to find any memorable roles since.

On Reddit fans likened him to his character in the Harry Potter franchise. One wrote, “In the Harry potter franchise tom felton is known for playing a craven coward who bows to power to have some small part of it. Great casting it turns out.” Ouch.

Tom isn’t the first to be subject to such attacks online. Last month actor John Lithgow found his own fans turning against him after taking the role of Dumbledore in the reboot. There was also disappointment in British actor Nick Frost’s decision to as the new Hagrid.

In the eyes of many, Felton’s decision looks to be a desperate move to cling to the one thing that ever made him relevant. While the rest of the original cast were able to move on to bigger and better things he seems to be stuck in the past, coasting on the one role he’s really known for, taking the easy way out rather than carving a name for himself in fresh and exciting roles. In the process he’s lost the respect of thousands of Potter fans across the globe.

She's not going to like this one bit...]]>
<![CDATA[

HBO’s Harry Potter reboot is already proving to be an ethical minefield for its cast. J.K. Rowling is now famous as one of the fiercest warriors against the trans community, recently funding a British Supreme Court challenge which cruelly stripped rights from trans people.

As such, every actor who’s signed up for the new Harry Potter has faced entirely justified criticism for helping pour more money into her bulging bank . Now, look, I get that actors will find it difficult to turn down a job in a high-profile HBO show, but maybe balance that against your reputation?

But it seems there’s likely to be some severe tension on set, as new Severus Snape actor Paapa Essiedu is one of the top signatories to an open letter laying out the importance of defending trans people and vowing to stand in solidarity with them. The letter says: “We believe the [Supreme Court] ruling undermines the lived reality and threatens the safety of trans, non-binary, and intersex people living in the UK.” and pointedly concludes:

“Film and television are powerful tools for empathy and education, and we believe ionately in the ability of the screen to change hearts and minds. This is our opportunity to be on the right side of history.”

So, presumably, as a signatory, Essiedu believes (rightly) that Rowling is very much on the wrong side of history.

Essiedu isn’t the only Harry Potter actor to have stood up to Rowling, with Fantastic Beasts‘ Eddie Redmayne, Katie Leung, and Charlotte Ritchie all adding their names to this message. And, famously, the core Harry Potter of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson all condemned Rowling’s poisonous beliefs, which offended her so much she’s indicated she wouldn’t forgive them even if they apologized (which they’re not).

All of which means we can’t help but wonder if Essiedu will remain in the role. Fighting against trans people appears to be the entirety of Rowling’s identity these days and she clearly hates any actor playing her characters disagreeing with her. It’s possible she may simply demand the role be recast altogether, especially as shooting hasn’t begun yet.

To be honest, if Essiedu genuinely s trans people, he probably shouldn’t be helping line Rowling’s pockets so she can continue her crusade against them, but that’s between him and his conscience. Here’s hoping more Harry Potter stars stand up to be counted alongside their trans brothers and sisters.

J.K. Rowling is in trouble.]]>
<![CDATA[

The recent decision from The Supreme Court of the U.K. banning non-biological women from using women-only spaces has had some unforeseen consequences. You see, there are a few loopholes which only serve to confuse things even further and make it so that even biological women, like J.K. Rowling, could be kicked out of women’s toilets.

When the news was first announced regarding The Supreme Court’s decision, Rowling shared a snap of herself sitting on a yacht, holding a glass of champagne and smoking a big cigar. The image led to some people comparing her to the infamous misogynist, Andrew Tate. Anyways, the Harry Potter author was pretty chuffed that a marginalized group were being further persecuted.

However, that picture may soon come back to haunt her as one TikToker, Emlyn Pearce (@emlynpearce) shared a legal loophole that could get her banned from women’s only spaces.

@emlynpearce

The Equalities and Human Rights Commission has ’clarified’ the Supreme Court’s judgment about the 2010 Equalities Act in such a shambolic way that it means cis women can now be challenged for seeming too masculine. #lgbt #transrights #jkrowling

♬ The Champion – Lux-Inspira

One question that came to many when the new law definition was announced was what does this mean for trans men? Women who transitioned to men would legally have to use the women’s toilets now right? After all, they are biologically women. In theory, that opens the door for cis-gendered men to simply claim they are male-ing but biologically female in order to invade these female-only spaces.

To get around this the law specified that in some cases, male ing women and female ing men would not be permitted to use the toilets of their biological gender either. That’s right, this new law is so ridiculous that, if your trans, you could be denied access to any and all public toilets.

However, as Emlyn points out. That now, theoretically, opens another door in which anyone can be questioned if they as the wrong gender for the toilets they’ve entered. For example, Rowling, if she appeared masculine enough, could be banned from the women’s toilets.

The picture doesn’t help j2v9

The pic she shared earlier this month doesn’t exactly help her case. Emlyn suggests that the fact she’s smoking a cigar and doing traditionally “masculine” actions, the argument could be made that she is too masculine to use the women’s bathroom. Others ed in in the comment section, with one adding that Rowling has written under the male pseudonym of “Robert Galbraith” in the past. Could that further prove that she is not feminine enough?

This all sounds a bit ridiculous but it just goes to show how confusing this change to the law has gone and made things. No doubt cis-gendered women who appear a little too masculine will suffer because of this. So the argument that Rowling is just standing up for women doesn’t really hold water. It’s always been about her own vendetta against the trans community.

It seems the payday is big enough to silence his conscience.]]>
<![CDATA[

Like most people, I don’t think I could put a price on my friendships. These are people I’ve grown up alongside, who’ve seen me at my best and worst, and who I’d go to the ends of the Earth for. But, apparently, film icon John Lithgow prioritizes a hefty payday over his friends.

In an interview with Variety, Lithgow outlines a bizarre incident involving his casting in HBO’s Harry Potter remake show. This remake is proving to be a hot potato on all fronts, though primarily because J.K. Rowling just personally funded a successful legal battle to strip rights from and enforce discrimination against trans people in the United Kingdom.

Every actor clambering aboard HBO’s Hogwarts Express will be fully aware of this, especially as their social medias are now full of heartbroken fans pleading for them not to align themselves with Rowling. However, Lithgow has at least made his position clear: he doesn’t care.

“A very good friend who is the mother of a trans child” sent him an open letter pleading with him to walk away from Rowling. The letter praises Lithgow for his career-long “love and acceptance of the LGBTQ community”, pointing out that he said “Nobody in society should have to hide who they are, or feel like they’re second class citizens in any way”, and underlining that he scored an Oscar nomination in 1982 for playing a trans character.

The letter ends with a plea for Lithgow to “stand with trans young people” as the community “could use your now more than ever.” So, on one hand, you have your good friend’s emotional letter to you outlining how this would make you a massive hypocrite and urging you to do well, and on the other, you have a big HBO payday.

Lithgow told Variety the letter “was the canary in the coal mine”. But even if that bird chirped and flapped around a little, it was soon a rotting yellow lump on the cage floor. Lithgow’s takeaway was apparently… nothing: “I thought, ‘Why is this a factor at all?’ I wonder how J.K. Rowling has absorbed it. I suppose at a certain point I’ll meet her, and I’m curious to talk to her.”

Needless to say, fans of Lithgow are disgusted, with most wondering why he’d burn decades of goodwill for a payday that’ll make no material difference to his day-to-day life:

It’s deeply depressing to see an actor I deeply respected fritter away his reputation like this. But hey, Lithgow “just” has a net worth of around $50 million, so maybe the Rowling paycheque will mean he can finally afford that ivory backscratcher he’s been coveting all this time. What Rowling is doing with her money is evil but, as far as Lithgow is concerned, evil clearly pays.

J.K. Rowling isn’t particularly liked by a majority of the internet. The once beloved author provided most millennials and even many Gen Z kids with some brilliant childhoods thanks to her Harry Potter books. However, she has since outed herself as a hateful, spiteful individual who seems to relish in other people’s misery.

This week the U.K. Supreme Court decided that trans women cannot be defined as women. The recent court ruling brought an end to a dispute between feminist advocacy groups and the Scottish government. Across the country people have protested against the ruling as it will have far-reaching implications for people in the trans community.

J.K. Rowling celebrates 25g70

Of course, the Harry Potter author was overjoyed at the recent news. So much so that she had to let everyone else know. Rowling posted a picture of herself on what appears to be her yacht, with a glass of champagne in one hand and a cigar in the other — the luxurious self-indulgence here is giving Umbridge. The caption reads, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

There’s just something about the picture that just makes her look almost cartoonishly villainous. It’s probably the cigar, cartoons have taught me that only bad guys smoke cigars. A few people have actually drawn comparisons between Rowling’s picture and a pic of Andrew Tate smoking a fat cigar. One person on X pointed out that “JK Rowling is to women what Andrew Tate is to men.”

The unlikely pair have a lot in common 16l6f

Of course, the similarities don’t end with their apparent love for smoking cigars. Both are chronically online individuals who pander to the right-wing by spouting hateful rhetoric. Their personalities basically revolve around being “anti-woke” which attracts a small but crazy loyal group of followers who will defend them no matter what. However, it also earns them ire from pretty much everyone else online.

Being compared to Tate will no doubt upset Rowling, at least it should. Despite her bigoted opinion when it comes to trans rights, she still insists that she is a feminist. Andrew Tate is the antithesis of a feminist. However, these are the kinds of people that are associated with her name now and it’s all thanks to her anti-progressive stance. Let’s not forget, she’s agreed with far-right figures like Elon Musk in the past.

At this point it seems the mold has fully taken over.

Anyways, the J.K. Rowling we once knew as kids is gone. This hateful rhetoric is all many will her for now. Like it or not she’s in the same league as Tate, one of the biggest misogynists out there.

<![CDATA[

Over the weekend, JK Rowling unveiled an exciting new development in her career. Not content with becoming one of the most high-profile anti-trans celebrities in the world, she’s now expanded her umbrella of hate to include asexuals.

It’s unclear why she chose to lash out at asexuals on Apr. 6’s “International Asexuality Day”, on which they take pride in their community and provide resources to anyone wishing to learn about them. Seen through the sickly lens of Rowling’s eyes, this translates to “Fake Oppression Day” for people who “don’t fancy a shag”. Cruel.

As many have noted, Rowling has essentially unlimited resources at her disposal and could do whatever she wants with her life. Right now, she could be snorkeling in a tropical paradise, camping in a tent in the Sahara desert, or staying in a luxury Tokyo hotel and enjoying some classy nightlife.

But she’s not doing any of that, she’s sitting at home randomly lashing out at people online and seeking mewls of approval from the far right. And, with each tap of her keyboard, grains of sand fall through the hourglass of her life, never to return.

However, as an astute post on X revealed, the reason for this bizarre and depressing behavior may have been staring us in the face all along. Back in 2020, Rowling attempted to respond to criticism that she was transphobic with an essay posted to her website. On re-reading it it’s shocking how much she’s changed over five years. Would 2025 Rowling really say: “Trans people need and deserve protection.”?

Anyhows, peppered throughout the article are mentions to what sounds suspiciously like Rowling’s own gender dysphoria: “If I’d been born 30 years later, I too might have tried to transition”, “The allure of escaping womanhood would have been huge”, “I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the song my father … preferred”, and “I didn’t have a realistic possibility of becoming a man back in the 1980s”.

Rowling’s counter to this appears to be that these thoughts were a consequence of her mental health, a belief that everyone feels gender dysphoria in her teens, and that she’s simply accepted living her life “unsure of what or who you are”.

Well, her fixation and obsession with the trans community makes a little more sense now. All we can say to Rowling is that it’s never too late. Sure, you making this decision now after, y’know, everything, would generate a lot of headlines, but isn’t it best to live life to what you know deep down to be true. Rowling, dude, it’s okay. It’s okay.

If you’ve followed J.K. Rowling’s X page over the past few years, you’ll know she has a penchant for unhinged cruelty and rage-bait, but a recent post might just take the cake.

The post in question saw the controversial Harry Potter author reply to an X who asked “what actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you.” While some of the more predictable responses ranged from Kevin Spacey to Johnny Depp (for obvious reasons), Rowling came through with what many believed to be a swipe at the Harry Potter franchise’s beloved trio of stars. “Three guesses,” the author wrote, adding that her reply was “too irresistible” not to share. She also added laughing emojis, but legions of Potterheads will not find this funny.

While she never mentioned them by name, Rowling’s tumultuous history with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint — who portrayed Harry, Hermoine and Ron across all eight installments of the film series — took much of the guesswork out of her response, at least according to fans. “My three guesses in one image,” one X wrote alongside an image of the Harry Potter trio, with another adding that “we don’t need a detective to figure this one out.”

A brief look at Rowling’s now-soured relationship with the Harry Potter cast reveals the source of her not-so-subtle swipe at Radcliffe, Watson and Grint. Following her string of transphobic statements back in 2020 (which have continued in the years since), all three actors distanced themselves from Rowling. Radcliffe publicly rejected Rowling’s certifiably TERF views by declaring that “trans women are women” in an essay for The Trevor Project, while Watson said trans people “deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned.”

For his part, Grint said in 2021 that “it’s important to stand up for what you believe in, and I trans rights.” Naturally, being the controversy magnet that she is, Rowling responded to their criticisms with a vague swipe in a 2023 podcast interview, saying there “were a few actors I thought had a little more backbone.” The feud was reignited last year, when Radcliffe said Rowling’s stance on trans rights was “really sad” and the author responded by saying she would never forgive him… even though he never offered an apology.

Of course, since she never named names in her more recent post, we can’t know for sure whether Rowling was actually saying Radcliffe, Watson and Grint “instantly ruin[ed]” the Harry Potter franchise, but it doesn’t take an Accio spell to summon the probable answer. With such a knack for drawing negative attention — whether it’s engaging in X feuds with Azealia Banks or buddying up with Elon Musk — it’s somewhat surprising that Rowling is said to be “very involved” in HBO’s television reboot of Harry Potter, even as it broke one of her time-honored casting rules for the original film series.

Speaking of casting for the HBO series, it was recently revealed that John Lithgow will portray Professor Albus Dumbledore, while Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu are rumored (though not yet confirmed) to take on the roles of Professor Minerva McGonagal and Severus Snape, respectively. Given her track record, I give it a couple of months before of the Harry Potter reboot cast are subject to a social media swipe from Rowling.

With its latest announcement, Max’s HBO reboot of Harry Potter has already broken one of original author J.K. Rowling’s strictest rules: not casting Americans.

That’s right, after weeks of speculation, Emmy Award-winning (and American) actor John Lithgow has confirmed he is onboard to portray Professor Albus Dumbledore in the series, which will base each of its seasons on one of the original seven books. Lithgow confirmed the rumors of his role in a recent interview, saying that it was a “hard decision” since it is a character that will “define me for the last chapter” in his life. Nonetheless, the actor remains “very excited.”

By now, people should know better than to interact with Azealia Banks. The rapper and singer is a hurricane of unadulterated chaos, and nobody who gets drawn into the vortex emerges unscathed. Recall the bizarre story of when Grimes invited Banks to collaborate on an album while Elon Musk was around, an experience that devolved into Banks waiting around while “grimes coddled her boyfriend for being too stupid to know not to go on twitter on acid.”

All of which meant that J.K. Rowling choosing to follow Banks on X — apparently because she assumed the pair shared anti-trans views — was not a particularly smart move. Banks rapidly hit back:

All of the insane anti-trans paranoid people like @jk_rowling feel their femininity is threatened for whatever reason and try to mask that insecurity with “science” like anyone is stupid and doesn’t already know these things.”

In a lengthy follow-up post, she said: “Transwomen are not a threat to your femininity. You are really too rich and legendary to keep spewing the same stuff over and over and over,” before continuing:

My brother is trans, I have witnessed first hand the type of misery, pain, ostracism, suicide attempts, unnecessary and unwarranted abuse my mother doled out to my brother, the discomfort with his body – it’s not a mental illness it’s a spiritual thing. One would assume that you of all people who have written books about magic and esoteric things would be able to comprehend and understand how states of consciousness vary in a human being.”

At this point, we should note that Banks’ political views are… complex. She’s called for a trillion dollars to be paid to African Americans as reparations for slavery and endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2016 on the frankly solid logic that “I think Donald Trump is evil like America is evil.” In 2024 she attended a Trump rally, before saying she’d vote Harris as Elon Musk “belongs nowhere near American politics” and, on election day, finally claiming to have voted for Trump after all. Banks has also been a little back and forth even on trans issues:

So, perhaps it’s unsurprising that Rowling and her ilk would conclude they had an ally. But, apparently not:

For any other celebrity, this tit-for-tat would have ended there, but this is Azealia Banks we’re talking about. And so, right on schedule, she hammered the big red buttons and went nuclear on Rowling:

“A better question to ask your husband is if he is as into transwomen as you are because GURLLLLL. The way you talk about them 24/7 would ten thousand percent make your husband interested in seeing what all the fuss is about.”

Banks went on to say she’s “sure” Rowling’s husband is sleeping with trans women behind Rowling’s back, arguing “the dolls are stealthy honey,” “u better chill before some footage leaks online sis,” and advised she should sniff her husband’s breath when he kisses her, all things that back up her theory that “chances are the man you are dating or will date is attracted to transwomen.”

Let’s be clear on this, Banks absolutely isn’t some shining knight come to slay the great dragon of transphobia. But she is very entertaining on social media and, at the end of the day, isn’t that what really matters?

What's the spell to remove a once-beloved author from social media?]]>
<![CDATA[

JK Rowling has been spotted on X (where else?) again, this time making a joke that’s sure to ruin any childhood fantasies you had about Harry Potter and his spellcaster pals.

The author, who seemingly has ample time to type away at anything besides quality material, took to her preferred platform to make an unexpected joke that involves Christmas and… suggestively shaped gifts. Rowling made the quip in response to the X page Dame Katy Denise, a notorious troll dedicated to making a mockery out of trans people and causes.

Yep, instead of doing the honorable thing and moving to a faraway place to enjoy the spoils of Harry Potter in complete solitude (ideally without access to X), Rowling is instead engaging with transphobic social media s, such is the TERF way.

Interacting with that (as she so often does) is crude enough, and Rowling brought the whole ordeal to new lows when responding to an image of a suspiciously-shaped Christmas gift that Denise supposedly sent to her vicar. “It’s really rude to publicly regift presents I’ve given you,” the author wrote. I guess the implication is that these two share sex toys, which is not only rife with hygiene concerns but also evidence that their comedy chops are nowhere near worthy of a stand-up special, which would probably be called Punching Down.

In response, Denise joked about the fake gift Rowling had given last year, a bottle of perfume with the name Novichok Salisbury — a nod to the 2018 poisonings of Sergei and Yulia Skripal. You don’t need a grade-A in potions class to know that Rowling obviously didn’t receive that gag gift, or to know that the gag isn’t that funny, either. While the author of a beloved children’s book series making sexual jokes feels icky all over, Rowling’s obsession with people’s anatomy is at this point unsurprising.

Just this week, she again ed in on a so-called ‘joke’ made by Denise on X, in which she mentioned the words “shenis” and “hanging ovaries,” adding to a long history of controversial comments about trans people. Sometimes, as was the case for Imane Khelif, the people aren’t even trans, but are presumed to be trans and subsequently used as a pawn by Rowling to incite a culture war at the community’s expense. Rowling was later named in a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by the Olympic champion boxer (Punching Up, one might say), ing the equally esteemed company of Elon Musk.

It’s not yet known whether anatomical jokes will find their way into HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series, on which Rowling serves as an executive producer. The show, which will dedicate a season to each of the Harry Potter books, has yet to announce any casting details, but it is slated to arrive sometime in 2026. In the meantime, Rowling will no doubt continue to fire off harmful posts on social media, to the point where I hope she conceives of some kind of spell that renders once-beloved authors completely silent. That might be wishful thinking, but for the author of a franchise about flying cars, there are surely a few spells left up her sleeve.

Someone's got too much time on their hands...]]>
<![CDATA[

JK Rowling has engaged in a parody spat with a trans troll on social media, revealing (though no one asked) her haircare routine and whether she’s in a polyamorous relationship.

That sentence is a little mind-bending, so let me clarify. The interaction arose when Rowling, a noted TERF who also happened to write a few popular books a while back, responded to an X post written by Dame Katy Denise. For those unaware, Denise is a notorious satirical troll intended to mock trans people, so it should come as little surprise that Rowling found herself co-g a post that makes fun of the trans experience. For its part, the declared that it is “NOT [JK Rowling],” before listing an array of fake ‘achievements’ for supposed trans causes, like “67 rodents given life saving gender reassignment surgery.”

Doubling-down on the harmful messaging, Rowling chimed in by “clarify[ing] once and for all” that she is “NOT [Dame Katy Denise]” while sharing a range of hurtful stereotypes about trans people. “I don’t have back hair so thick it requires horse clippers,” Rowling wrote, adding that she doesn’t “have to tape up my ‘hanging ovaries’” and that she isn’t “in a long distance relationship with a polyamorous furry called Basil.” It’s a shame the author chooses to use her words in this way, rather than… I don’t know, moving to a faraway island without access to X and enjoying the spoils of Harry Potter in complete solitude.

It marks the most recent time Rowling and Denise have traded satirical barbs at the expense of trans people. The pair have seemingly had a fake beef on social media for many years, with Rowling ing in on Denise’s parody causes like #ChairPoverty. Of course, this makes a mockery out of actual trans struggles (like powerful authors inexplicably coming after them on social media), but this kind of transphobic rhetoric is unfortunately unsurprising for Rowling

Despite creating voluminous fantasy worlds complete with spells and flying cars (and I imagine other stuff, but I never read the books), she can’t quite conceive of a reality where trans people are treated equally.

Earlier this year, Rowling was named in a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by Imane Khelif, the Olympic champion boxer who was repeatedly misgendered and attacked by the author. Rowling was ed in these attacks by Elon Musk (nightmare blunt rotation), and the pair used Khelif — a biological woman — to ignite a culture war which regurgitated harmful talking points about trans people. When your name is listed along Musk’s, you know you’ve made a wrong move somewhere along the way, but Rowling has continued her TERF diatribe with consistent online hate speech in the months since the Olympic Games.

Rowling has subjected HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series to a cloud of controversy, since she will serve as the show’s executive producer. You’d think that title would allow little time for the author to go on anti-trans X posting sprees, but production on the series nonetheless appears to be full steam ahead. While no casting details have been revealed (Daniel Radcliffe will certainly not appear), the series — which will dedicate one season to each book in the franchise — is expected to hit streaming services in 2026.

By that time, maybe Rowling will have softened her views on trans people but on second thought, that’s about as fanciful of a prediction as flying broomsticks or a noseless villain. Again, I never read the book, since my witches of choice are ones dressed in pink in floating bubbles, not ones with a penchant for attacking people on social media.
