It’s bad news for Oscars fans as Harrison Ford, 82, has had to cancel his appearance at the last minute, stepping down as a presenter just one day before the event itself. Ford had been expected to present alongside industry greats such as Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, and Emma Stone.

This bit of bad news comes after Ford was diagnosed with shingles as reported in an Entertainment Weekly exclusive. The Indiana Jones star dropped out of the event yesterday morning, March 1, but is reportedly “doing okay” and is resting after the diagnosis, which is serious and can lead to further complications.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes shingles as a “painful rash illness” caused by the Herpes Zoster virus, the same virus which causes chickenpox. Later in life, this virus can reactivate and cause shingles. The CDC says it’s not possible to contract shingles from someone else, but it is possible to get chickenpox from someone with shingles if you’ve never had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine before.

Ford is understood to be in generally quite good health, to the point where during filming for 1923, the Yellowstone spin-off, he’s described having to film atop a horse as “not that difficult” in a People magazine exclusive. He’s described himself as in general good health, which will be a relief to fans given this recent diagnosis. This bodes well in the long term, but in the more immediate sense, his absence will leave a hole in the Oscars lineup.

Though his one and only Academy Award nomination was for his 1985 film Witness, he’s enjoyed a long and lucrative career in the industry. He’s been both a Star Wars star and the face of the Indiana Jones franchise, both beloved movie universes popular with fans all over the world. Needless to say, fans of the actor were looking forward to seeing him on stage during the evening ceremony.

Renowned for his impressive career, the man is still acting, even though he’s described his career as being in a “stupid” phase. It’s notable that this phase includes appearances in multimedia mega-franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka his role as the Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World, yet another MCU disaster that sunk before it even got to swim. Ford may be self-deprecating about his career, during which he’s spent a lot of time in action roles or roles without that much emotional depth, but it’s clear that’s not all he is. While he holds the honor of being an action star playing roles filled with spectacle and effects, Ford has been praised for the emotional gravitas he brings to the characters he play, (like the one in Apple Plus’ Shrinking, where he portrays a doctor with Parkinson’s disease that left viewers crying).

His absence will definitely be felt even though it’s probable someone else has already been drafted in at short notice to fill the role. Still, his legions of fans do have his recent appearance at the SAG Awards where he appeared with his co-star and on-screen love interest Wendy Malick, and with some rest and recuperation it’s likely we’ll all see Ford back on our screens in next to no time at all.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is finally good for something as it helps Harrison Ford triumph over Johnny Depp https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/captain-america-brave-new-world-is-finally-good-for-something-as-it-helps-harrison-ford-triumph-over-johnny-depp/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/captain-america-brave-new-world-is-finally-good-for-something-as-it-helps-harrison-ford-triumph-over-johnny-depp/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2025 15:33:09 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1838310 Harrison hulks out while Depp drops. ]]>

With awful reviews and a box office haul that’s hemorrhaged sales since its opening weekend, Captain America: Brave New World tragically didn’t get much right, but maybe it’s easier to appreciate if we think of it as a Harrison Ford movie rather than a Marvel movie. It’s certainly keen to play with Ford’s long Hollywood history, with his turn as President Ross consciously evoking the last time he played a POTUS, in 1990s classic Air Force One.

Sure enough, as it struggles to break even financially, Brave New World is unlikely to shake any feathers when it comes to MCU milestones (but at least it’s not bottoming out like The Marvels either). On the other hand, thanks to his involvement in this middling Marvel offering, Ford has just earned himself a significant boost that allows him to sail past Johnny Depp when it comes to the highest-grossing actors of all time.

Harrison Ford is now a higher-grossing actor than Johnny Depp thanks to Brave New World

If we ever wondered why a venerable movie star like Harrison Ford would ever agree to don a onesie studded with golf balls and make grunting noises all day long in order to play Red Hulk, the beloved curmudgeon made that abundantly clear on the film’s press tour. When asked by Variety, he itted he was more than willing to be “an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.” Well, that attitude has served him well as Brave New World has ended up doing Ford a big solid.

According to TheNumbers‘ league table of the highest-grossing actors in film history, Ford is all set to move up a ranking thanks to Cap 4‘s ongoing earnings. As of the time of writing, the 82-year-old icon is just $11 million behind Johnny Depp, which means he’ll soon switch places with the Pirates of the Caribbean alum as Brave New World will undoubtedly make more than that across its third weekend at the box office.

So where will this place Ford in the rankings? Surprisingly low, in actual fact. Following this weekend, Ford will rise to 44th position on the chart, putting Depp into 45th, based on a total career gross of $10,852,899,702. Unsurprisingly, circa 99% of the actors above Ford in the ranking hail from the MCU as well, with many performers of considerably less fame outflanking him due to their multiple Marvel appearances — e.g. Benedict Wong (38) and Paul Bettany (20). The ultimate proof that a Marvel gig is the way to bump up your career gross? In the number one position, making him the highest-grossing actor of all time, is none other than MCU cameo mainstay Stan Lee. Excelsior!

Clearly, Depp needs to get himself a role in the Marvel multiverse if he hopes to climb back over Ford in the rankings. Such a development isn’t even necessarily as impossible as it once seemed, given that the Fantastic Beasts veteran is set to make a major Hollywood comeback in action-thriller Day Drinker alongside Penelope Cruz. Meanwhile, if Ford wants to make it into the top 40 he may want to bug Kevin Feige into slipping Red Hulk into Avengers: Doomsday. With any luck, the man’s not done being an idiot for money yet.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ director has something to say about those reports Harrison Ford was difficult on set https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/movies/captain-america-brave-new-world-director-has-something-to-say-about-those-reports-harrison-ford-was-difficult-on-set/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/movies/captain-america-brave-new-world-director-has-something-to-say-about-those-reports-harrison-ford-was-difficult-on-set/#respond Sat, 22 Feb 2025 14:01:24 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1836274 A crew member had alleged Ford was "very much a diva."]]>

The MCU has always gone to gargantuan lengths to make its movies palatable to as many audience as possible. Sometimes, that means last-minute changes that frustrate just about everyone on set.

While rumors swirled that, on Captain America: Brave New World, Harrison Ford mirrored his on-screen Red Hulk performance a little too closely even when the cameras weren’t rolling — earning him the label of a “curmudgeon” — the film’s director is now stepping forward to dispute those claims.

Speaking to Vulture, an anonymous crew member alleged that most people on set felt the film was doomed from the start. While their primary frustration was with constant script changes made to avoid offending anyone, they also expressed disappointment in Ford’s behavior.

“Harrison Ford was one of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with. Which was sad. I’m a fan. But he was very much a diva. I don’t know if you , but he got in a plane crash. He couldn’t even raise his left arm above his chest. We have to suit up 80-something Harrison Ford in these motion-capture dots. To me, it seemed like he hated it and didn’t want to do it.”

Despite the specificity of these claims, which suggest at least some truth, director Julius Onah called Variety to push back on allegations of on-set discord. More seasoned in Hollywood diplomacy, he chose his words carefully:

“All I can speak to is my experience with Harrison. He was an utter professional. He is a guy who’s incredibly serious and ionate about his work. The creative process is one where you have these really meaningful and, at times, ionate conversations, but it was always working towards a target where we were making the best version of the film possible.”

Captain America: Brave New World is more interesting as an industry checkpoint than as entertainment. The film isn’t intriguing — point blank. Some even consider it the worst MCU entry yet. But in reality, its production has nothing to do with it and it wasn’t even all that different from other Marvel movies. The MCU has always prioritized being inoffensive, focused more on escapism through sneaking in Easter eggs than exploring actual themes, and dealt with its fair share of on-set disputes. Ford isn’t even the first Hulk actor to clash with the crew — Ed Norton was reportedly so controlling that he was replaced by Mark Ruffalo. The only real difference now is that people suddenly have started caring about how the sausage was made.

The truth is, the MCU is no longer the most dominant force in pop culture. You could blame it on the definitive finality of Avengers: Endgame or Kevin Feige’s creative decisions since then, but it’s clear these films don’t feel like must-see cinematic events. It’s the same reason some fans balked at Amazon taking full creative control of the Bond franchise, worried it would become yet another cinematic universe modeled after the MCU’s heyday. There’s no risk in that. Maybe Marvel shouldn’t have gotten cold feet ing Thaddeus Ross as a Trump allegory despite concerns about a “politicized” environment. That would’ve been a real risk — something worth actually discussing.

There are more MCU movies on the way, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps already looks like it’s forging its own path — it’s a period piece, seemingly set in a completely different universe. You could say the same about Thunderbolts*; its cinematography alone suggests a departure from the usual MCU aesthetic. Moving forward, Marvel needs to keep pushing boundaries and deliver experiences fans haven’t seen before. For better or worse, they can no longer just put out a direct sequel to a film from 17 years ago and expect it to work. The fans deserve and expect more.

Harrison Ford is a living legend. Anyone working with him hopes for a pleasant experience with their hero. Whether he was really that grumpy on the sets of the film or only a few staff formed a bad opinion of the actor, if that’s the biggest takeaway from your movie, maybe it’s time for some soul-searching.

“Movie star” is a complicated term. On the one hand, it implies performances that are a fair bit more sugary than the dramatic and comedic character work that most actors prefer to be known for. But on the other hand, the unique cultural impacts they’re capable of making can’t be overlooked, and the one made by Harrison Ford over the years is a testament to that.

Indeed, the 82-year-old has been Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Rick Deckard, Jack Ryan, and now the MCU’s new Thaddeus Ross as of Captain America: Brave New World. By all appearances, the career he’s leading is as lucrative as ever, but Ford wouldn’t quite define it that way.

Speaking recently to Entertainment Tonight‘s Cassie DiLaura at the premiere for the second season of 1923 (in which Harrison Ford portrays one Jacob Dutton), Ford was asked how he would describe the current chapter of his career, and — without missing a beat — the crown jewel of Lucasfilm landed on “stupid,” eliciting laughs from both himself and DiLaura.

DiLaura wasn’t buying it, pointing out how Ford’s relevance in the industry and the wider pop zeitgeist hasn’t diminished even after all these years. “You’re everywhere!” exclaimed DiLaura. “I’m a little too everywhere,” replied Ford.

He would go on to point out that he took the 1923 job because he wanted to take advantage of being presented with great material (a privilege he was not afforded for his Marvel debut), and that he plans to retire as soon as people “forget [his] name.”

In all likelihood, Ford’s candidness isn’t an act for the cameras. He doesn’t quite seem to understand why everyone is obsessed with him, nor why anyone seems to believe that he’s as invested in the mythology of his projects as they are. “I was there,” he says of the new 1923 season, which he also says he hasn’t watched. And when asked if there were hopes to keep the story going, he quite plainly said “I just work here. Taylor [Sheridan] tells me when he’s out of story.”

He’s hardly been the only one to speak frankly about the side of the job that traffics in fandom curiosity/obsession. Daniel Craig, of 007 fame, went viral just a few months ago for his response to the question of who should play the next James Bond. It’s a question that’s been hovering around for a hot minute now, with a fancast seemingly coming out every other week.

Craig’s response? “I don’t care.” It’s no great assumption that you’d get a similar answer from Ford if you asked him who the next Thaddeus Ross should be.

But hey, everyone seems to want Ford in their franchise, and while it’s one thing to not care about certain strands of popular fiction, it’s quite another to not care about five- or six-figure checks. If he runs into some inspired writing here and there, that’s even better.

Yikes, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was apparently doomed from the start thanks to Harrison Ford and polarizing politics https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/yikes-captain-america-brave-new-world-was-apparently-doomed-from-the-start-thanks-to-harrison-ford-and-polarizing-politics/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/marvel/yikes-captain-america-brave-new-world-was-apparently-doomed-from-the-start-thanks-to-harrison-ford-and-polarizing-politics/#respond Fri, 14 Feb 2025 14:18:21 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1833892 "He was very much a diva."]]>

To no one’s surprise, Captain America: Brave New World isn’t receiving much love from critics. But we now have confirmation from a crew member of what we already suspected was the root cause of yet another lackluster Marvel production.

It’s become clear that any time reports come out of extensive reshoots on Marvel films, the result is, at best, middling and, at worst, disastrous. So, the fact that Brave New World — a film that was majorly rejected at test screenings, had more than 20 days of added filming, and was forced to change its title due to weird political connotations — is currently sitting on an unimpressive 53% Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t shocking.

Vulture spoke to an anonymous technical crew member who shed light on just how messy the process of making Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing in the MCU was.

Most of the troubles came from the film’s political connotations, with Harrison Ford’s authoritarian U.S. president character Thaddeus Ross turning into Red Hulk, a bulging, red-skinned monster. In the source’s opinion, this was likely the reason audiences responded so badly to the first test screenings.

When the studio had its test in front of an audience, it didn’t respond. Maybe they don’t want to see anything political in an election year? Maybe they were divided on who they were voting for? General Ross reads as an allusion to Trump.”

Then, there was the film’s original subtitle, New World Order. The studio somehow didn’t know it was the name of a popular and widespread antisemitic conspiracy theory about a secret, mostly Jewish global elite pulling the strings on everything we consume, think, and learn.

If one of the film’s main characters alluding to Trump wasn’t enough to send Disney running for cover, then a title that was dangerously adjacent to the then-ongoing Israel-led war in Gaza must have sealed the deal. While all of that was happening, Marvel was also dealing with the backlash from including Israeli actress Shira Haas in the cast. It’s like they were trying to complete some kind of warped, Hollywood-glazed political bingo. And they couldn’t have picked a worse time to push those boundaries.

Next, there was the issue of Harrison Ford, who lived up to its curmudgeon reputation on set, says the crew member. “One of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with … very much a diva,” they describe. An injury resulting from a plane crash naturally made him even less enthused to be in silly motion capture gear: “To me, it seemed like he hated it and didn’t want to do it … Everyone was trying to scramble to make him happy. That made for a very awkward work environment.”

Finally, there was the bloated budget. Described by the cast as a “grounded thriller,” the film is believed to have ultimately cost nearly $300 million after the last-minute reshoots, according to insider Jeff Sneider. For comparison, The Hollywood Reporter had initially reported that it had cost “just” $180 million, which is less than many Marvel offerings.

Entire action sequences had to be remade, characters cut, and Giancarlo Esposito’s supervillain added last minute. “It was on, then it was off, then it was on again. That’s very expensive to do … Entire sequences we shot won’t make it into the film, and that’s very expensive.”

The source, as well as a colleague they quote, describes the experience as “rough” and “the most tense Marvel shoot [they’ve] ever worked on.” If anything, it’s upsetting that this was the card that Mackie was dealt. He’s been dedicated to his character and the franchise from his first appearance in The Winter Soldier, and didn’t deserve his big moment getting spoiled by reckless planning and last-minute patch-ups.

Some early reactions to Captain America: Brave New World are positive. Enthusiastic, even. With the endless reshoots the film underwent, though, and the downward trend Marvel has been experiencing in the last few years, I think we are allowed to be a little surprised.

There were rumors the first test screenings for Brave New World weren’t exactly successful, thrusting the crew into additional reshoots at the start of 2024, lasting nearly six months. Adding to that were reports that three major sequences had to be cut and that brand-new writers and cast were being added last minute, including Giancarlo Esposito.

That sort of modus operandi has rarely ever worked out for Marvel, with some of its biggest flops such as Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels, Secret Invasion and Echo also requiring extensive reshoots and a lot of editing room action.

The film is Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing as the new Captain America and the introduction of blockbuster king Harrison Ford to the MCU, taking over for the late William Hurt in the role of Thaddeus Ross. The occasion alone demanded Marvel be on its very best game, but making the most competent movie possible should have been the superhero juggernaut’s top priority regardless, considering James Gunn’s new and improved DC Universe is about to come knocking.

Thankfully, it sounds like fans of the genre (the people whose reactions the franchise is most interested in, surely) loved it. Nerdist Editor-in-Chief Rotem Rusak says the movie “brought to life the best of the MCU” as she complimented its “sharp” action, “simmering” mystery and tension, and “interesting” political themes. For @TheConnorWeb on X, Brave New World isn’t “groundbreaking,” but it still did not disappoint, with Mackie “[cementing] himself as the ‘Star Spangled Man.’”

POC Culture found it “MASSIVELY entertaining” — all caps — praising the leading duo of Mackie and Danny Ramirez for bringing heart to the story. Slightly more biased is Wong Updates, a Marvel fan , who called the film “a cinematic gem” that delivers “a mix of Winter Soldier and The Dark Knight.” They also declared that “Old Marvel is back on the menu.” Take that with a tremendous grain of salt, but, hey!, if one person saw all of that in Brave New World, then maybe there really is something to work with among those patched-up 118 minutes of runtime.

As Marvel fans, we’re hoping we’ll leave the theater in agreement with these takes. Still, we can’t help but feel duly frustrated that the production studio seems more interested in fixing any issues in post-production than in giving creators the bandwidth, freedom, and to simply create a great script. Or, I don’t know, just make better choices.

So, let’s hope Brave New World lives up to its title and doesn’t end up cowardly, dated, and small, instead. It arrives in theaters Friday, Feb. 14.

Fans have reacted to Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s awkward presenting slot at the Golden Globes, and predicted what it could mean for their co-starring roles in Captain America: Brave New World

The pair attended the star-studded ceremony to present the award for Best Animated Picture. The trophy ultimately went to Flow, but not before Mackie and Ford engaged in an awkward exchange that left the latter looking seriously annoyed, at least according to some onlookers. After giving a shout-out to fellow Marvel actor Sebastian Stan — who had just won for his role in A Different Man — Mackie paused the preamble to allow Ford to speak.

He then interrupted the Hollywood veteran not once, but twice, to deliver a makeshift drum roll sound effect. It got some laughs from the audience, but Ford seemed entirely unamused, going as far as to push Mackie away from the microphone to announce the winner. Of course, it’s probably the case that this was a planned comedic bit, with Ford relying on his ever-trusty solemn persona to play off Mackie’s boyish charm. However, the jokey moment evidently didn’t land for some viewers.

“Harrison Ford is so done with Anthony Mackie lol,” one X wrote, with another adding that “Harrison Ford just wants to go home.” Others said the Blade Runner star “just shows up to awards shows to look grumpy as s***,” or more broadly suggested that Ford is “not a big fan of” Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser, who made a joke about the actor smoking marijuana. Regardless of how it landed, fans shouldn’t fret too much about the chemistry between Mackie and Ford ahead of Brave New World, since the former actor has been nothing but positive about his experience working with Ford for the film.

Speaking on the Golden Globes red carpet about Ford, Mackie — who takes the reins from Chris Evans for the film — said he “was surprised at how normal [Ford] was.” The actor went on to compliment Ford, who will play Thaddeus Ross/Thunderbolt, for his ability to “just chill with us like a regular person” despite his “big star” status.

The Hollywood legend took on the character after William Hurt, who originated the role in the MCU, ed away in 2022.  Mackie and Ford’s presenter slot wasn’t the only one to cause a stir, with Vin Diesel enduring an awkward moment after reviving a years-old beef with his Fast and Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson. Elsewhere, Andrew Garfield got tongues wagging with the simple act of putting his glasses on, and Kieran Culkin set himself up for awards season success with a deserved win for A Real Pain.

If all that wasn’t enough, we also got an appearance from the winners of the look-alike contests for Glen Powell and Timothée Chalamet, proving that this year’s bingo card will be just as head-scratching as 2024’s. Speaking of, I need to go and tick off “look-alike appears at Golden Globes” and “Andrew Garfield inspires the internet’s thirst” off my 2025 card.

The hit Apple TV+ series Shrinking aired its season two finale on Christmas Day — and people are still emotional about star Harrison Ford’s big speech.

WATCH: Shrinking on Apple+ (free trial)

Ford’s character Dr. Paul Rhoades, who has Parkinson’s disease, finally allowed himself to share with his loved ones how he really feels, something he hasn’t done before. In the Thanksgiving-day scene, Paul shared that he’s worried because the path he’s traveling with the disease will only continue to result in his decline.

Despite that reality, Paul was also able to focus on the love he has for everyone in the room. Ford was visibly teary-eyed, a sight that prompted both his cast mates and viewers to cry along with him.

“I look around this room and I say to myself, lucky guy. I’m a lucky guy,” Paul tells the room. “I don’t know how much longer I’m gonna have to work with you, hang out with you, laugh with you. The road’s gonna get tougher and tougher, but I do know that I’ll get through it because of everyone in this room and that’s what I’m thankful for. We can get through everything if we have people to lean on. I’m leaning on you. I’m leaning on you.”

The entire Shrinking cast cried during Harrison Ford’s emotional speech

“Everyone was crying,” Lukita Maxwell told CinemaBlend. Maxwell also revealed her own connection to the disease.

“My grandmother ed away and had Parkinson’s. My grandmother ed away a couple years ago, and she had Parkinson’s, and she never talked about her emotions and how she was feeling dealing with her illness. And I mean, that’s the beauty of storytelling and good writing; I felt a catharsis watching Harrison say these things and talk about his fears and his hopes. And he’s Harrison Ford. So it just was an incredibly poignant moment for everybody on set. Everybody was crying.”

The scene is remarkably humble and human, two traits that Ford hasn’t always been called to exhibit in his action-packed career. That the 82-year-old actor took on the role at this point in his life is also impactful; Ford clearly has a lot more he still wants to give audiences, and with Shrinking he’s certainly doing that. If you haven’t watched Shrinking yet, Apple TV+ is offering a free trial this weekend.

Am I alone in still not quite getting my head around the fact Harrison Ford is now in the Marvel universe? Not too long ago, the notion that the Star Wars and Indiana Jones legend would one day battle Captain America — as the Red Hulk, no less — would’ve been inconceivable. Happening it is, however, in this February’s Captain America: Brave New World, but while MCU fans might be eager to see him in action, Ford himself remains pleasingly and characteristically blasé.

In the incoming fourquel, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will face off against an old face — or rather an old face wearing a new face? Let’s face it, it makes no sense. Basically, Ford is playing Thaddeus Ross, previously portrayed by the late William Hurt, who is now President of the United States and also a big crimson rage machine. Director Julius Onah promises the Han Solo star is about to deliver a red-letter performance in the part, even if Ford thinks differently.

Captain America 4 director and Harrison Ford have, like, very different takes on his “mind-blowing” Red Hulk

Now that it’s officially just two months’ away, Brave New World’s helmer Onah was on hand to hype up Ford’s Red Hulk in an interview with Empire. The filmmaker described Ford’s performance as “mind-blowing,” and even threw a little shade on the recent comedic interpretations of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and She-Hulk as he praised what makes the Red Hulk so great.

“All of us on set were like, ‘Holy f***ing sh*t, he nailed it,'” Onah recalled. “It’s really great to get back to a Hulk that is just fucking breaking shit, and a rage monster.”

Empire also caught up with Ford to get his own take on what playing Red Hulk was like. His resulting laconic response is so pure Ford that I guarantee you will hear it in his voice as you read it: “Just another day at the office,” he said. He then went on to show up method actors everywhere:

“I tried to understand the ambition of the filmmakers, and to be useful to them,” Ford explained. “I just didn’t sit home at night and say, ‘Oh, what do I want to do when I turn into the Hulk?’ It didn’t seem to me to be a terribly difficult acting proposition.”

The 82-year-old actor may have done the whole mega-franchise owned by Disney runaround before, but there is an element of humility here as, to be fair to him, his Red Hulk portrayal did involve him mastering a new skill. Bringing an eight-foot gamma-irradiated monster to life obviously required him to do MoCap acting, which typically means an actor has to express and emote bigger than they usually would. And that goes triple for someone this laidback. Guys, we need that behind the scenes footage of Ford beating his chest and yelling while wearing a grey onesie with golfballs on his head, and we need it now.

Despite a troubled road to the screen, Captain America 4 is actually enjoying a positive final sprint into cinemas, as a recent poll determined it to be the most-anticipated 2025 major movie release. I mean, the fact that it is the next 2025 major movie release probably had something to do with that, but recency bias aside, that excitement likely has a lot to do with Ford’s involvement. Let’s hope it proves worthy of the hype come Valentine’s Day. If it doesn’t then Red Hulk won’t be the only one who’s angry.

‘That belongs in a museum’: But seriously, what the heck is Donald Trump doing with the Ark of the Covenant? https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/politics/that-belongs-in-a-museum-but-seriously-what-the-heck-is-donald-trump-doing-with-the-ark-of-the-covenant/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/politics/that-belongs-in-a-museum-but-seriously-what-the-heck-is-donald-trump-doing-with-the-ark-of-the-covenant/#respond Fri, 15 Nov 2024 17:45:48 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1793704 The ancient relic is on display at Mar-a-Lago, and no, we're not talking about Trump.]]>

Donald Trump’s election win took many of us by surprise. After all, it just doesn’t make any sense. But what if I told you there is strong evidence to suggest that Trump has access to occult and mystical artifacts that perhaps gave him some unearthly powers?

I’m kidding, of course, or am I? A picture posted to X shows a replica of the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark being displayed in the convicted felon’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Kind of odd, but hey, the first Indiana Jones film is great, so I suppose it’s not a massive stretch of the imagination to assume that Trump would be a fan. Just because he’s a terrible person doesn’t mean he can’t have good taste in movies.

It’s sort of ironic that Trump should be such a big fan of the Indiana Jones franchise though – does he not realize that the Nazi’s are the bad guys in those films? Let’s not kid ourselves, he’s definitely more of an Arnold Ernst Toht character than an Indiana Jones.

One comment joked about the box being the real deal.

Another comment suggested he just wanted the box because it was shiny – like a big dumb magpie. I wouldn’t be surprised, considering Trump’s brain is probably about the same size as a bird’s brain.

A third implied that the Ark has given Trump supernatural abilities, which might explain how he won the election.

All these replies may be talking sense, personally, I’m inclined to believe this is the real Ark of the Covenant. There’s just something about this image that feels so cursed. I bet Donald even had a little peek inside as well, which would explain why his face always looks a bit melty. In fact, now that I think about it, I’m almost certain someone has opened it, as I can clearly see one of those horrifying spirits looming right next to the box. Oh, wait, that’s Laura Loomer – which is arguably even more horrifying.

Perhaps this was the real reason Trump’s estate was raided back in 2022, and it’s all coming together now. Obviously Biden wanted to get his hands on Trump’s ark before he could use it to win this election.

Alright, jokes aside, do we have a better explanation for the presence of the replica? Some jumped in to defend Trump, claiming it’s because he’s a self-proclaimed Christian.

I’m not buying it though, as most Christians would just settle for a copy of the bible or something. Having the Ark of the Covenant on display in your home is a bit extra. In reality, it probably really is just a case of Trump being a fan of the movie. I can’t exactly explain why Laura Loomer is there, though. She’s a cryptid, sort of like Slenderman – she just pops up in photos, standing there, menacingly.

‘The Rebel Alliance is together again’: Mark Hamill welcomes Harrison Ford as he s their first collaboration after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/celebrities/the-rebel-alliance-is-together-again-mark-hamill-welcomes-harrison-ford-as-he-s-their-first-collaboration-after-the-rise-of-skywalker/ https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/celebrities/the-rebel-alliance-is-together-again-mark-hamill-welcomes-harrison-ford-as-he-s-their-first-collaboration-after-the-rise-of-skywalker/#respond Sun, 03 Nov 2024 14:23:22 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.sitesunblocked.org/?p=1781731 May the Force be with us on November 5th.]]>

The Force is strong in American politics as two of cinema’s most beloved rebels, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, unite once again to fight what they see as a greater peril than the Empire itself.

Hamill and Ford’s friendship was forged in the crucible of the original Star Wars trilogy. In the galaxy far, far away envisioned by George Lucas, Hamill played the role of Luke Skywalker, an heir of the Jedi legacy who s the Rebel Alliance in hopes of toppling the Empire’s tyranny. Harrison, in his turn, impersonated the fan-favorite Han Solo, a bounty hunter who abandons neutrality once he realizes what’s truly at stake. So, while Han Solo usually doesn’t bother much about making political statements, he officially becomes a Rebel when an authoritarian regime threatens to take away people’s freedom.

Sometimes, life imitates art, as Hamill and Ford have found themselves fighting side by side once more. Their latest alliance isn’t against the Death Star but instead in of Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Hamill, known for his sharp wit and engaging presence, has been particularly vocal in ing the Harris campaign. But now he has the backup of his long-time brother-in-arms.

Harrison Ford’s endorsement of Kamala Harris highlights the threat of Donald Trump

Ford’s entry into this political battle carries the same gravitas as Han Solo’s return to save Luke in the Battle of Yavin. In a powerful black-and-white video, the 82-year-old actor emphasized the importance of protecting democratic institutions, stating, “We don’t need to make America great again. We are great. What we need is to work together again.” So, while Ford explicitly says he doesn’t agree with every Democrats policy, he’s confident that Harris will fight for the citizen’s right to disagree with her, contrary to Donald Trump.

The 82-year-old actor’s endorsement carries particular weight as it marks his first official political stance in his 64 years of voting. However, with so many Republicans refusing to their party’s candidate, Ford felt he had to stand up and speak his mind. Ford’s message carried particular weight as he addressed the urgency of the moment:

“Look, I’ve been voting for 64 years. Never really wanted to talk about it very much. But when dozens of former of the Trump istration are sounding alarms, saying, ‘For God’s sake, don’t do this again,’ you have to pay attention.”

Hamill is aware of the parallel between the current US elections and the Star Wars universe. That’s why he has previously declared that “in the movies, I fought against make-believe evil. But we’re at a time in history where we’re fighting against real evil,” before warning voters not to “go to the orange side.” Still, Hamill has never been shy about expressing his political views. The fact that people who are more private on the matter, such as Ford, have decided to publicly Harris is another piece of evidence of how important this week will be for the nation’s history.

The timing of Ford’s endorsement, just days before the Nov. 5 election, has energized Democratic ers and added his name to an impressive list of celebrity endorsements, including Taylor Swift, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Springsteen.

Hamill and Ford’s real-life camaraderie helped make their on-screen relationship so compelling in the Star Wars franchise. Now, their partnership extends into a shared vision for America’s future.

If you get complimented by the legendary Indiana Jones or the great Han Solo, Harrison Ford himself, then it’s definitely something you’d want to treasure forever. Even if it’s NSFW, like what happened to Jason Segel, who received praise from the actor because of his, ahem, “private lightsaber.”

The “How I Met Your Mother” star appears alongside Ford in the Apple TV Plus comedy series Shrinking. The duo make a remarkable team, with The Daily Show host Desi Lydic commenting in an interview that their “chemistry is so good” in the series and that they have this “great buddy comedy dynamic” despite their 38-year age gap.

Ford, 82, is best known as a thinking man’s action hero, having appeared in several action films like Blade Runner 2049, Star Wars, and more. Segel, 44, on the other hand, is a comedian at heart. So how does a comedian talk an action star into doing comedy?

Turns out, Ford didn’t need that much convincing. All it took was that one memorable scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall where Segel had to flaunt his precious gems on camera. The comedian fondly recalled Ford’s response when Lydic asked, “How did you get him to sign on to do comedy? Did he see your full-frontal scene in Finding Sarah Marshall">Shrinking premiered in 2023 on Jan. 27 and has since received rave reviews. So much so that Apple TV Plus renewed it for a third season just a day after its second season was released on Oct. 16, 2024.
