Quite a few projects paused production during the ongoing WGA strike, which started in early May and shows little sign of letting up. News that filming for a Marvel release is still underway took quite a few people by surprise and sparked immediate rumors about which film is behind all those traffic delays. There are literally dozens to choose from, with a lineup of more than 20 MCU flicks planned for release over the next decade or so, but we can narrow that selection down with relative ease.

Roads and parking lots near the White House in Washington D.C. are currently congested, as MCU filming takes over an area several city blocks wide. The culprit behind this closure, which began early in the week and will reportedly conclude on Thursday, June 29, is still unknown, but rampant rumors point to one highly-anticipated release.

Marvel has yet to confirm which flick is causing all those blockages — which are largely located around 14th Street, 15th Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue — but fans think they’ve got the filming figured out. Production for Captain America: Brave New World is known to be underway, and — as one of only a few Marvel flicks currently in the filming stage — many fans have landed on the fourth Captain America flick as the culprit behind stagnant D.C. traffic and parking blockages.

At a meeting back in March, a director in the D.C. mayor’s office, Latoya Foster, informed us that Brave New World would be filming this year. That revelation, in tandem with knowledge of the Marvel release schedule, makes the impending Captain America flick the most likely bet. It’s not guaranteed, of course — and likely never will be, if other D.C. traffic stoppers are any indication — but most people are heaping the blame on the MCU’s new Cap.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to hit theaters this week, marking Harrison Ford’s final outing as the whip-cracking archeologist, and so the actor has taken the time to explain just what kind of hero Indy really is.

In an interview with Variety, Ford discussed all things Indiana Jones as he prepares to say farewell to a beloved icon of cinema. Of course, times have changed since Indiana Jones first fought the Nazis over the Ark of the Covenant. We’ve moved on from characters like him, in favor of superheroes. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but as Ford puts it, his character is an “ordinary hero,” something that separates him from the caste of heroes currently dominating cinema.

“I think we’ve got a lot of ordinary heroes out there. They just don’t appear in movies all the time. I mean, it’s a convention in drama… the unexpected hero, but I have always insisted that I really don’t want to be characterized as playing heroes.”

To put it simply, Indy is just some guy, there’s nothing special about him, he’s just an archeologist who ends up in dangerous situations and has to get by on bravery and wit alone. But that’s exactly what makes the character so fun to watch. Ford seems to enjoy playing these sorts of characters the most.

I play archaeologists or heart surgeons, or, you know, presidents of the United States who get into a shitstorm and decide to do something about it.

Of course, the Star Wars actor has had his fair share of playing both types of hero. There’s no denying he knows what he’s talking about, especially considering the fact that he’s just come off the back of filming Captain America: Brave New World.

But this film was more than that. I’ve just done a Marvel movie […], I know a hero when I see one. He’s got a cape. He can fly or something like that. But this film is not about heroes [like that]…

Jones is a hero alright, just not a super one, the difference comes in the presentation. If he had a cape he’d be good to go. It goes a little deeper than that, obviously, but the point is that in the current roster of films being released, Ford’s character stands out for being more ordinary, more down to earth, and in a way, more relatable.

Captain America 4 has officially undergone a name change, but unfortunately fans really wish it hadn’t as the new name just makes it sound less cool.

The fourth Captain America entry was originally supposed to be titled New World Order. It’s a pretty badass sounding name and gives a sense of foreboding but apparently it wasn’t good enough for the studio. So Marvel has made the decision to change the title to Brave New World. Doesn’t have the same ring to it, right?

Many fans are of the same opinion as they questioned why the studio felt the need to change what was already a pretty dope title. In fact it’s been largely unanimously hated as fans piled on with criticisms; less of a Brave New World and more of a Brash, Unneeded Mistake.

Out of all the responses the only good thing that could be said about the name change was that the new one was more original, which is something. However, even that’s questionable, there are plenty of examples of that title being used. Most notably the Aldous Huxley sci-fi dystopian novel. The reference to the novel might be a subtle hint at the dystopian world of the fourth film, but the jury is well and truly in, fans want the un-subtle title back and they want it now.

At the end of the day, it’s just a movie title, it doesn’t reflect on the quality of the film. It might not be as cool but that doesn’t mean that Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) first big screen outing as Cap won’t be anything short of awesome, and hopefully it will bring the fans back to Marvel. However, if the film doesn’t do well, we can definitely place all of the blame on the name.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive in theaters next year.

Whether or not you’re a Marvel fan, you’ve surely noticed that the title for Captain America 4, previously known as Captain America: New World Order, has been changed to Captain America: Brave New World. What you might not know, however, is the reason behind Marvel’s decision to implement this change. It’s a rather significant alteration and not as subtle as changing one word, so there must have been some serious issue with the old title, right? Correct, there was.

Although we’re still an entire year away from the fourth Captain America, Marvel Studios has spontaneously changed the title, seemingly with no prior warning. Well, for those who didn’t know, the ‘New World Order’ is actually a conspiracy theory — a rather famous one at that — that implies “a shadowy elite force is trying to implement a totalitarian world government.” So that’s already a big no-no, especially if you don’t want to one half of the political spectrum and offend the other. In line with the conspiracy theory, some theorists call out the COVID-19 pandemic as the work of the New World Order, viewing it as a man-made attempt to exert undue control over civilians.

As if one spanner in the works weren’t bad enough, there’s another. Not only did the old title refer to the conspiracy theory above, but it also references the political agendas of Russia and China’s political parties. Essentially, Russia and China are attempting to overthrow the international order laid out by the United States in the aftermath of World War II, so there’s a lot of mess to clean there.

We actually wrote an article recently about an April Fool’s prank that convinced Twitter of Captain America 4‘s title change being ‘World War Hulks’ rather than ‘Brave New World’ or the like. And honesty, that would have been much better than ‘Brave New World,’ especially considering that Harrison Ford is portraying General Thunderbolt, the Red Hulk himself. It doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue as nicely when saying ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ does it? Although Disney owns Marvel and there’s some irony here, the fourth Captain America movie does sound like a Disney movie — the animated ones.

But if it weren’t for the change, Marvel definitely would have found itself under fire sooner or later. It’s probably for the best, even if the new title isn’t exactly as fetching as the old one.

Back in April, a Twitter profile shared a ‘scoop’ concerning Captain America 4, claiming that it would be changing titles. Initially, a lot of followers believed the post, but upon closer inspection, Twitter s discovered that the aforementioned news was reported on April 1, April Fool’s Day. The post seemingly confirmed how Captain America: New World Order would no longer be the title of the fourth installment, but rather it would be replaced with one possibility: ‘Captain America: World War Hulks.’

Considering how Mark Ruffalo or any iteration of The Incredible Hulk appears absent from the cast list, that should have been enough of an indication that this was a phoney post. That being said, Harrison Ford is portraying Thaddeus Ross, with whom Marvel Comics fans will be familiar, so wouldn’t it be cool? Actually, in some ways, ‘World War Hulks’ sounds a lot cooler than ‘New World Order,’ but that’s just one opinion. If there were any kind of indication that Marvel were keeping Ruffalo’s involvement very hush-hush, we might have believed this change, but we haven’t even heard a whisper concerning the actor.

This title derives from the Hulk Vol. 2 comic series, specifically issue 22, where General Thunderbolt Ross (played in the movie by Harrison Ford) begins his transformation into Red Hulk to better combat his nemesis, The Incredible Hulk, whom he learns to be Bruce Banner, his son-in-law. Red Hulk makes his official debut in Hulk Vol. 3 #1. Already, that sounds like a rip-roaring adventure for our new Cap, but assuming this is merely an origin story for Ross, maybe we have to wait until the next Avengers team-up to see Red Hulk in his full glory.

“I know it’s a joke BUT it honestly works for what this movie is about. Red Hulk, Leader, super soldier serum lol,” another said.

It wouldn’t be the first time that a movie title was changed and t certainly wouldn’t be the last, but Marvel seems pretty satisfied with ‘New World Order’ for now. There’s still just under a year before the fourth Captain America film hits theaters, so if any of the execs or creatives want to go back and their decision, there’s still plenty of time to rework the title.

But which one would you prefer?

It’s ironic that Harrison Ford has played two of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema, and yet absolutely despises being asked hypothetical or lore-related questions relating to either of them.

If Across the Spider-Verse‘s Rotten Tomatoes score is as high as Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s, and especially if The Flash is also a big critical hit, Marvel — against all the odds — seems destined to be the least well-received cinematic multiverse to have recently hit the big screen. Yes, another day, another new veteran from Fox’s X-Men universe rumored to have “secretly” ed Deadpool 3. While your mileage may vary on these rumors, this one is worth paying attention to, however, as it just so happens that the star in question made sure to lavish praise on his former X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds’ adventures as the Merc with the Mouth in a recent interview. With its super-sized budgets and blockbuster brawl sequences, it’s a commonly known notion that participating in a Marvel movie is no easy task. In fact, MCU veteran Robert Downey Jr. once broke his ankle while performing a stunt in Iron Man 3. So when the time came for 80-year-old Harrison Ford to lend his acting prowess to a Marvel film, it quickly became obvious to him that it would be difficult.

While chatting with Esquire, the Indiana Jones performer was asked if being in a Marvel movie was a fun experience. Without sugarcoating a thing, Ford expressed that while participating in Captain America: New World Order was fun, it also took a tremendous amount of hard work — especially with this being his first-ever venture in the MCU realm. Ford said:

“Yeah. I mean, there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”

Of course, with Ford still working despite being in his 80s, it hardly comes as a surprise that performing tricky Marvel stunts would prove to be tough. But with a career as illustrious and decorated as Ford’s, it’s worth noting that he’s absolutely no stranger to gathering some cuts and bruises over the years.

And with the pulse-pounding stunts Ford unsurprisingly performed in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, it’s evident that we’ll continue to keep seeing the legendary actor give his all to each project that he participates in — not that we’re complaining in the slightest.

Captain America: New World Order is currently before the cameras, and unlike many other ongoing Marvel Studios productions, doesn’t seem to be heavily affected by the ongoing writers’ strike. The primary shoot is expected to wrap a month from now so there’s still a lot to do, though all indications are that it’s coming together nicely.

The movie will pick up where Disney Plus show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, with Danny Ramirez’ Joaquín Torres being handed the mantle of the Falcon now that Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has a full-time job wielding the shield. As in the streaming series, the pair will be working as a team both in and out of costume, as indicated by these set pics of the pair in civilian mode.

New World Order looks set to be Marvel Studios’ centerpiece production next year, but right now it seems to be unexpectedly turning into a semi-sequel to 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Liv Tyler is back as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson is finally returning to play the Leader. That – coupled with Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross being thrown into the mix – makes us wonder whether they’re keeping an appearance from Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk under wraps.

Rumors have been swirling for years about a potential World War Hulk adaptation from Marvel Studios, so perhaps New World Order could be the stealth setup for the comeback of the smash-happy Savage Hulk. Either way, we’re just hoping Mackie’s new Cap doesn’t get lost in the mix, as he still has a lot of work to do before he can live up to Steve Rogers’ world-saving antics.

It’s worth ing that the outfit has traditionally avoided leaning on specific actors to sell their movies. Robert Downey Jr’s stardom was arguably a big part of Iron Man‘s success, but prior to playing Tony Stark, even his fame had waned after a decade of bad press. Since then, MCU movies have been promoted on the strength of the brand rather than the talent involved, which lets the studio prevent any one name from making too many demands.

The top reply points out that Captain America: Civil War was even more jam-packed with other heroes, and nobody suggested that the reason was that Marvel lacked confidence in Chris Evans. We agree.
