Did you know Donald Trump has his own streaming network? It’s true! So true, in fact, that it’s called “Truth+” and says it’s the place where “free speech lives”. Unveiled last year by the Trump Media and Technology Group, the app bills itself as a place to find “news, Christian content, and family-friendly programming that is uncancellable by Big Tech”.
So, what “Christian content” is Trump serving up to his viewership? Well, what could get more holy than Lizard People: Rulers of Time and Space. This documentary is currently in the top ten most-watched programs on Truth+ and asks the questions on everyone’s lips: “Did ancient serpent or Lizard-like aliens come to Earth thousands of years ago to play a role in creating humanity and are they still among us today?”
The answer to those questions is “no” and “no”. But that’d be a short documentary, so director Alex Weiss promptly launches into an absurd sci-fi narrative about ancient aliens set to stock footage that sounds suspiciously like AI slop. Truth+ is supposed to be serving up “Christian content”, but the claim that “there is a great deal of evidence to suggest that alien, serpent-like creatures did come to Earth thousands of years ago and created religion, humanity, and continue to control us even now” doesn’t sound like anything I from Sunday school.
No, seriously, people believe in this stuff
It’s easy (also fun) to point and laugh at people who believe there’s a secret race of lizard people manipulating world events, but many people take this stuff seriously with deadly consequences. For example, on Christmas Day in 2021, Anthony Quinn Warner detonated an explosive device in downtown Nashville, with cops later discovering that he was an ardent believer in the lizard people conspiracy and felt he needed to strike back against them.
It’s unknown whether Donald Trump personally believes in lizard people. Talking Points Memo covered this story and approached the White House for comment, but they “didn’t answer specific questions about whether Trump believes in “lizard-like” aliens” so we may never know for sure. What is certain is that Trump is the majority owner of Truth+ and therefore bears some responsibility for what’s broadcast on his network under his name and generating income that goes into his pocket.
But, frankly, as far as he’s concerned, the more people who believe in a shadowy cabal of lizard people running the country, the better. After all, if and when the economic tailspin begins and America as we know it begins to crumble, devoted MAGA morons can just blame lizard people (or DEI, Jewish people, antifa, etc) for their woes rather than Donald Trump, who is actually in charge. Heck, I wish lizard people were secretly running the world, as they’d almost certainly do a much better job at it than humans!
