Dillon Francis And Skrillex Reveal Their “Rebirth” Of GTA’s “Red Lips”

Between remixes, edits, re-edits, flips, mashups and VIPs, electronic music has no shortage of convoluted terminology used to describe methods by which an artist can update a track. Dillon Francis and Skrillex apparently felt that there needed to be another in circulation though, because they’re calling their remix of GTA’s “Red Lips” a “Rebirth.”

Francis had teased the rebirth of the track several weeks ago, but had not revealed it to be a t effort between himself and Skrillex before its release. The rowdy moombahton banger features hints of both artists’ creative processes – Francis’ on the high end and Skrillex’s on the low – as well as the pitch-shifted vocal sample tying it to GTA’s original production.

Even before the Dillon Francis and Skrillex rebirth of the track, GTA’s “Red Lips” was already setting itself up to be one of EDM’s hottest tracks in 2016, thanks in large part to Sonny’s huge remix of it, which dropped at the end of last year. So, it stands to reason that fans can expect plenty more “rebirths” in the months to follow.
