The sequel once known as Infinity War – Part 2 has been draped in a thick veil of secrecy for months – years, even – though Marvel Boss Kevin Feige its that the intense rumors and speculation pertaining to its actual name have “gotten entirely out of hand.”

Currently out promoting the imminent Infinity War, Feige spoke to IGN about all things Marvel, and why he still laments the decision to withhold Avengers 4‘s title from curious fans dying to know what Joe and Anthony Russo have in store.

I’ve said before, it’s gotten entirely out of hand. And now will have no chance to living up to any expectations of what it’s gonna be. And it sort of backfired, if I’m honest with you, because the notion was to not talk about it so the focus was to be on [Infinity War].

Of course, with Avengers: Infinity War almost upon us, Marvel Studios currently has all hands at the pump in anticipation of its biggest and most important movie thus far.

As you’ll no doubt recall, the event film was announced just prior to the release of Age of Ultron (ditto for Avengers 4), and Kevin Feige is wary of repeating the same mistake twice.

I think there was a slight notion of—Ultron hadn’t come out at that point and I felt a tiny little sense of, ‘Well, gosh, we’ve gotta talk about the movies we have coming out next because that’s what we’ve been working so hard on and that’s what’s next available for our audience to see,’ but when we talk that far ahead, that took a lot of attention out.

Regardless, it seems everyone will supposedly much more different than we’ve been led to believe.

They’re absolutely directly connected, as many of our movies are but more so than many of our other movies. People will want to know what happens next immediately at the end of it.

Once Infinity War enjoys its time in the sun later this week, all eyes in the MCU will begin turning towards Avengers 4 ahead of its own release in May of 2019 – providing Marvel doesn’t bring it forward into April, that is.
