Though it first cropped up on crowdfunding site Kickstarter tethered with a lowly initial goal of $100,000, Harebrained Schemes’ Shadowrun: Hong Kong has now stormed past $1.2 million strong as it nears the end of its month-long campaign.

Billed as a standalone follow-up to Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shadowrun Returns, the cyberpunk RPG will take the action to the Chinese metropolis, and given the fact that the title has now powered through all of the stretch goals, the studio is posied to introduce an additional mini campaign — said to last between four and five hours — alongside new characters, missions, magic and more. All this action will be set against an “underworld of triads, tongs and gangs to navigate.”

In a statement on Shadowrun: Hong Kong‘s Kickstarter page, Harebrained outlined how it plans to manage these newly-acquired resource in typically humorous fashion.

“We’ll put it towards dealing with problems that crop up during production. We’ll put it towards our test budget. We’ll put it towards pizza and bagels (and healthy stuff) for a team who bust their humps to deliver to the best of their ability. And we’ll use it to try and sneak in little stuff that had to fall off our features list (don’t ask, we’re not telling).”

Fans of the series can expect Shadowrun: Hong Kong to make its anticipated debut across PC, Mac and Linux in August. For more on the game and the bonuses the studio is offering to backers, you can check out the official Kickstarter page.
