Till a few days ago, Patti LuPone was a Broadway legend. But now, she has made the entire Broadway community her enemy.

Over 500 Broadway artists – including Tony winners James Monroe Iglehart and Maleah Joi Moon – signed an open letter denouncing the Marvel actor as a “bully” and calling out her “degrading,” “misogynistic,” and “racially insensitive” remarks. The letter called for ability for her “deeply inappropriate and unacceptable public comments about two of Broadway’s most respected and beloved artists,” since it exhibits “a blatant act of racialized disrespect.”

“It constitutes bullying. It constitutes harassment. It is emblematic of the microaggressions and abuse that people in this industry have endured for far too long, too often without consequence.”

The letter asserted that such insults have become a “pattern” for those who are powerful or popular, as there has been “a persistent failure” to hold such individuals “able for violent, disrespectful, or harmful behavior.”

LuPone’s comments were a wake-up call as the community has vowed to no longer tolerate “the normalization of harm in an industry that too often protects prestige over people.”

What is the community’s demand, and what has LuPone said in response?

The demand is simple – organizations like the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League should bar LuPone from attending the Tony Awards unless the 76-year-old completes anti-bias or restorative justice programs. 

In response to the letter, its demands, and the widespread backlash she continues to face, LuPone has issued a public apology, expressing deep regret for her comments and acknowledging that they were demeaning and disrespectful. Her solution? She is committed to making amends and plans to personally apologize to Lweis and McDonald.

But what the letter expects her to do to prove she is truly apologetic and ready to change is to go through “anti-bias or restorative justice programs,” wherein she will learn to recognize and correct her harmful bias and make amends, but in a meaningful way.

It remains to be seen whether it would be too much work for LuPone to fix her ways, especially since this is hardly the first time she has made biting remarks about fellow artists. The only difference is that this time she is being held able.

Confirming fears that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs – the rapper currently facing trial for everything from sexual assault to sex trafficking – could be next on his list of celebrities to be pardoned, Donald Trump has confirmed that he won’t let his personal feelings influence the decision.

Right.

Diddy’s trial is currently ongoing, with witnesses revealing details that range from disgusting to horrifying against the disgraced musician. Many legal experts have already concluded that he could be looking at life in prison for his crimes, if convicted (which is more of a “when” at this point).

But, in the past, Trump has called Diddy his friend, has been photographed with the man, and has a certain soft spot for celebrity criminals convicted with solid proof. So, obviously, the question has been out there – of him eventually pardoning Diddy and nullifying the battle his victims have been waging for justice.

He just confirmed those fears.

During a recently held news conference, when asked if Trump would even consider pardoning Diddy, he remarked that he knows “people are thinking about it.”

“He used to really like me a lot. I think when I ran for politics…that relationship busted up, from what I read. I don’t know—he didn’t tell me that, but I’d read some little bit nasty statements.”

I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me, it wouldn’t have any impact on me.”

What does Trump mean by “nasty statements?” Well, while they were friends years ago, in the later years, Diddy didn’t keep his dislike of the current president a secret. From announcing that “white men” like Trump should be “banished,” to endorsing Barack Obama and then Joe Biden, Diddy made it obvious that he was no longer Team Trump.

But many anti-Trumpers have hada  change of heart, like Vice-President JD Vance who was once a vocal critic of the president, calling himself the “Nver Trump Guy,” but now? Now, he can’t stop gushing about the man and repeating his mind-numbing lies, even if it is about people eating cats. And Trump forgot the past to embrace the man. What is stopping him from doing the same for Diddy if the rapper shows the right amount of remorse mixed with a hefty dose of sudden iration for him?

According to Hindustan Times, the acquisition encomes Swift’s self-titled debut album “Taylor Swift” (2006), “Fearless” (2008), “Speak Now” (2010), “Red” (2012), “1989” (2014), and “Reputation” (2017). The purchase marks a significant victory for the artist, who has been actively working to regain control of her musical legacy since 2019.

In an emotional letter posted on her website, Swift announced the successful purchase to her fans, stating, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” Shamrock Capital also expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, releasing a statement saying they were “thrilled” with the result and “happy for Taylor.”

How the $360 million master’s dispute began with Big Machine Label Group

The controversy began in June 2019 when Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings purchased Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) for $330 million, acquiring Swift’s master recordings in the process. Swift claimed she was not properly informed of the sale and was denied a fair opportunity to purchase her masters directly.

The situation escalated in November 2020 when Braun sold the masters to Shamrock Capital for $405 million. Swift alleged that Braun had imposed conditions on Shamrock Capital, preventing them from communicating with her until after the deal was completed. The former cast member McSweeney is alleging some very serious accusations. Page Six reports that in 2024, McSweeney filed explosive claims in a suit alleging Cohen snorted cocaine with other cast — and that producers of the show even encouraged her to break her sobriety. But now, she’s come back with even more explosive claims.

The former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City claims that Cohen took the alleged Justin Baldoni route and fired off a media blitz that was a coordinated attack against her. According to McSweeney, Cohen “requested or induced” current and former cast to publicly attack McSweeney’s character — and ensure her reputation as a liar is fully entrenched in the zeitgeist.

The filing claims that the cast were willing to take part in this supposed charade in order to advance their own careers. The filing gives specific examples, like Lisa Vanderpump appearing on The Talk and declaring she’s on Cohen’s side. The granular example was bringing forward the platform argument — which suggests McSweeney should just be grateful that she was given the opportunity to appear on screens all over America. And that all that was thanks to Andy Cohen.

There were other examples where some former cast claimed that McSweeney was simply trying to assassinate Cohen’s character. Taken by themselves, this honestly just sounds like typical Real Housewives drama. Honestly, even when they’re not on the clock — the drama still follows them. However, the filing does acknowledge this and says that all this bad-mouthing is a result of the aforementioned “requesting” or “inducing.”

The filing is meant to bolster McSweeney’s original lawsuit by framing all this media blitz as retaliation. So the new filing is not merely to add more complaints, but rather to accentuate the allegations of Cohen trying to punish McSweeney in some way. It’s worth mentioning that Bravo did stand up for Cohen and previously attempt to get the original motion dismissed. The motion was allowed to proceed after a ruling in January, and according to the new filings, that’s when the “retaliation” began.

McSweeney’s counsel wants to not only prove the retaliation claims but also double down on the claims of cocaine use. The filing states that two unnamed castmates told McSweeney that Cohen does actually use cocaine. NeNe Leakes has also called Cohen a “coke-head,” and the counsel is bringing that up to create historical precedent.

Bravo and Andy Cohen have not given any public comments about this new filing. This new filing is trying to the dots and give the court and perhaps the public too a glimpse at the inner workings of reality TV as it exists today. If true, these allegations seem to suggest that the producers of these shows push their cast beyond their limit and if they don’t follow orders, they will be dumped. And worse off, if they complain — to quote Baldoni’s PR — “they will be buried.”

Sydney Sweeney definitely found a new way to sell soap. It’s salacious, controversial, and while it might leave your body clean… your mind might be entirely another story.
