‘If she says it I’m the victim!’: Piers Morgan dares tradwife influencer to say the N-word in front of black guest

"A despicable human being."

Piers Morgan is known for being quite a controversial journalist. His approach leaves a lot to be desired, even on the rare occasions where he’s actually in the right.

Recommended Videos

Case in point, a recent episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored in which the British journalist and a variety of guests from all over the political spectrum discussed the case of Shiloh Hendrix. Hendrix is a Minnesota woman who has received a ton of negative backlash after a viral video appeared online showing her repeatedly calling an autistic 5-year-old the N-word.

Lilly Gaddis its to being a racist

One individual who appeared on the episode from earlier this week was Lilly Gaddis, an influencer known for creating content promoting the “tradwife” lifestyle. For those unaware, a tradwife is typically a woman who embraces the stereotypical role of a traditional housewife, i.e., cleaning the house, cooking all the meals, and raising the kids. Meanwhile, the husband is usually the breadwinner who simply gets to work and then chills at home.

At one point during the episode, Gaddis its that she has no problem using the N-word despite being white. She also defends Shiloh Hendrix’s use of the word. Morgan, who disagrees with Hendrix’s use of the word, calls Gaddis out, labelling her “a despicable human being.” It pains me to say it, but I actually agree with Morgan here; turns out he does have a teeny-tiny shred of moral fiber after all. Don’t worry, that’s the closest I’ll ever come to paying that man a compliment.

Piers Morgan dares Gaddis to say the N-word

Despite her shocking ission, Piers and the rest of the guests remain relatively composed. It’s not until the final thoughts portion at the end of the show that Morgan decides to challenge Gaddis to say the word.

As the influencer argued that people should be “allowed to say what they want,” the host cut in with the response, “Well go on then, say it.” At this point, things get a bit chaotic as another guest, Marc Lamont Hill, begins to protest, “We don’t want you to invite this woman to say a racially harmful term in front of me.” He also points out that he is the only black guest on the show, “so if she says it, I’m the victim of it.”

Lamont Hill has a point. The word still has a lot of weight to it, and challenging someone to say it, even in an attempt to prove their racism, is harmful and uncalled for.

Like I said, Piers Morgan’s approach leaves a lot to be desired. He may have been correct in calling out Gaddis’ racism, but his tone deaf challenge to her is childish and wouldn’t really achieve anything other than making Lamont Hill uncomfortable. It’s already painfully clear that Gaddis is a terrible person.
